The Cross-Cultural Communication and Applied Linguistics MA provides theoretical, research and practical training in areas of international and intercultural communication. It also provides training on the analysis of language in use, in a variety of settings and on the teaching and learning of English as a second language.

The Applied Linguistics pathway is a specialism on the Cross-Cultural Communication MA. It allows you to study applied linguistics and intercultural communication. It provides knowledge and expertise in the new approaches and techniques for teaching English as a second or foreign language.

Academic staff in applied linguistics and communication within the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences deliver this specialist pathway. It offers a wide range of optional modules in the areas of applied linguistics and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

Classics and ancient history at Newcastle has a long and distinguished reputation for its research and teaching. We've taught Latin and Greek since 1874, ancient history since 1910, and classical archaeology since 1931.

You can choose to study one of two pathways: Classics or Ancient History.

Meng
This MEng degree includes an additional year of master's-level study which will deepen your knowledge.

Our MEng degrees are also a direct route to becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng). You don’t need to study any more qualifications after your degree to work towards chartered status.

This LLM Law can be taken as a standalone course before undertaking PhD study.

It also forms the initial training component for the four-year (LLM plus PhD) ESRC Northern Ireland/ North East (NINE) Doctoral Training Centre.

This Master of Laws is ideal if you want to gain advanced research skills that will allow you to progress to PhD level study in the field of law and society.
