Our Classics and Ancient History master's builds and expands on your previous studies. You can specialise in either classics or ancient history.

The course is primarily designed for students who have studied ancient history, classics or classical studies as their first degree.

Classics and ancient history at Newcastle has a long and distinguished reputation for its research and teaching. We've taught Latin and Greek since 1874, ancient history since 1910, and classical archaeology since 1931.

You can choose to study one of two pathways: Classics or Ancient History.

If you're interested in classics, you'll study literatures, languages and cultures of Ancient Greece and Rome at an advanced level.

If you specialise in ancient history, you'll focus on the histories, societies and cultures of:

• Archaic and Classical Greece
• Rome
• The wider Mediterranean world

This four-year nutrition with food marketing degree includes a placement year and focuses on developing your critical, analytical and professional skills. Ensuring you will graduate as a conscientious and socially aware food professional, ready for a career in nutrition and marketing.

Our industry-recognised qualification helps to fast-track your career. You will be able to apply for direct entry into the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists as soon as you graduate.

Some of our degrees are offered at two levels:

• Three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc)

The Film: Theory and Practice MA will give you a sophisticated understanding of films as systems of meaning and practice.

This master's in Film Theory and Practice covers four areas:

• Film theory: history and approaches, narrative and aesthetics, authorship, stardom, national cinema
• Cinema management: film festival, exhibition culture, marketing
• Filmmaking
• Screenwriting

You can specialise in areas of film theory, and/or in film practice. Film practice includes cinema management, screenwriting and filmmaking.

Our professionally accredited Marine Engineering degrees provide a pathway to becoming a Chartered Engineer and prepare you to face challenges associated with the various specialisms.

This foundation year will help you build the base knowledge you need to progress to any of our marine technology BEng degrees.

This is a full-time programme of study covering core mechanical engineering topics, including:
