The study of heritage is vital for understanding our sense of identity and place. Heritage has widespread meaning; past, present and future narratives are interwoven with both physical features (landscapes, buildings, structures, monuments and objects), and more intangible practices based on oral traditions and living memory that enliven and enrich cultural experience (stories, traditions, crafts, food, dance, music and poetry).

The programme will span local, regional and global heritage, investigating new methods, and the value of heritage and for contemporary society across many cultural contexts. The programme is at the forefront of initiatives that recognise the importance of heritage and culture to future social cohesion and economic success by building a meaningful understanding of our diverse pasts.

In addition to vocational skills, studying Heritage and Archaeology will give you a broad range of transferable skills including problem solving, team working, and independent research, preparing you for a wide variety of careers, future study and research. Biomedical scientists have been working tirelessly since the pandemic began to develop diagnostic tests, run COVID testing laboratories, develop vaccines and support doctors in the urgent research into treatment and prevention strategies for the virus. It is a career at the cutting-edge of medical research.

Biomedical Science is the in-depth study of human biology in both normal and disease states. This course provides you with detailed understanding of the causes of human disease, how these produce symptoms and the effects of disease on the structure and function of human cells, tissues, and the whole organism. You will learn both current techniques used in the study of human diseases in the NHS, and innovative technologies under development for experimental treatments.

This programme is designed to help you progress as an international healthcare professional. It will give you both the skills and the professional qualification you need to apply for more senior leadership and management positions within health and social care.

This includes collaborations with big name broadcasters such as the BBC, and workshops and talks by award-winning professionals including Iki Ikram (VFX Artist, Last of Us, Uncharted) and Nick Wilkinson (Art Director, Game of Thrones).

The Department has a practical relationship with film related organisations such as the Bradford Film Office, UNESCO City of Film and the Working Academy placement agency. These close links provide our students with opportunities to engage on projects outside of the classroom and build up the practical experience needed to break into to film industry.

Our Occupational Therapy programme offers you an active, collaborative learning experience in a friendly, supportive environment.

The new MA in International Relations and Security Studies explores themes of peace and conflict studies, including:
