The MA Advanced Practice in Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution is offered by the internationally recognised Department of Peace Studies and International Development, drawing on over 40 years of experience as a leading centre of peace research and education.

The programme will develop your understanding of the causes and dynamics of social conflict, with a strong focus on case-study analysis. It will allow you to develop informed judgements about when and how to engage constructively with conflict, recognising the strengths and limitations of different approaches to intervention. The course is built around current and predicted industry requirements. It explores the complexities and potential for AI technologies and teaches the knowledge and skills needed to create innovative solutions.

In the first year, students will work in teams to develop a number of different AI solutions. They will build a biometric recognition system, a user profiling system and a system to analyse real-time data.

The second year will allow students to work in a specialised area, which could include the design of healthcare diagnostic systems, the analysis of company credit card ratings, or the development of a virtual healthcare assistant.

In the final year, students will work with an industry client and gain experience of developing cutting-edge AI solutions to solve real-life problems.

Our degree in Archaeology integrates traditional archaeology with the practical application of scientific methods that are applied to today’s archaeology.

It is a professionally-focused degree in archaeology with a strong fieldwork component and a focus on human osteology or the environment.

Your degree pathway in the second and final years will comprise a number of compulsory core modules that characterise this combination of archaeology and applied archaeological science. We offer a number of clear pathways, which will provide you with a specialism in, for example, prehistoric archaeology or in cultural resource management.

This course develops skills in core biomedical, chemical and forensic sciences, helping you become a skilled forensic practitioner.

The emphasis is on biosciences, and then shifts towards disease processes and forensic investigation of physical evidence types.

In addition to the pursuit of core sciences, you will study forensic investigation in anthropology and topics relating to archaeology - including the degradation of human remains and physical materials - which will develop your skills in forensic interpretation. Our LLB programme is flexible in structure and has core first and second years including all seven law foundation subjects.
