Our new Architectural Engineering degree combines the art of design with the construction of buildings. The programme is designed to produce tomorrow’s engineers, able to work in multidisciplinary teams to design, construct, maintain and operate our infrastructure utilising the latest technological tools and techniques.

The programme embraces the Conceiving-Designing-Implementing-Operating (CDIO) educational framework for producing the next generation of “work-ready” engineers. This will provide a learning experience that stresses the engineering fundamentals set within the context of CDIO real-world systems and products.

Studying Architectural Engineering will empower you as a graduate engineer to liaise and communicate effectively and efficiently with Architects to ensure both functional and aesthetic design. You will gain a solid technical ground in structural engineering, and appreciation and understanding of contemporary global architectural design. UN Sustainable Development Goals are embedded throughout the programme and practiced in the design projects to achieve a sustainable and resilient built environment.

Our 3-year BSc (Hons) in Business Studies and Law gives you a clear understanding of the interface between business activity and the legal framework within which it operates.

It prepares you for business careers with a legal dimension, developing insight and transferable skills that set you apart in a competitive job marketplace. You’ll also be able to pursue a legal career through further study after graduation, with the advantage of additional commercial knowledge.

You’ll learn from sector leading academics and seasoned business experts, and qualified solicitors and barristers with a wealth of real world experience. Law has an increasing influence on many aspects of business.

This Forensic Science degree focuses on the processing and analysis of physical evidence from crime scenes.

The course emphasises the application of science - in particular analytical chemistry - and stresses the importance of quality assurance procedures in a forensic setting.

Guided by knowledgeable industry active staff such as Carlton Reeve (a consultant for commercial AR games) and Peter Chapman (who runs his own digital agency), you’ll learn advanced techniques such as:

Utilising industry standard facilities, technologies and software, under the supervision of a team of experienced and industry active lecturers, you will gain a solid grounding in:

During your final year on the course you will undertake a major bespoke production project, where you will be able to collaborate with other disciplines and put your learning into practice, whilst showcasing your expertise developed through the course.

Throughout your time on the course you will be afforded a range of opportunities that will enrich your learning and advance your skillset. This includes collaborations with big name broadcasters such as the BBC, and workshops and talks by award-winning professionals including Iki Ikram (VFX Artist, Last of Us, Uncharted) and Nick Wilkinson (Art Director, Game of Thrones).

The Department has a practical relationship with film related organisations such as the Bradford Film Office, UNESCO City of Film and the Working Academy placement agency. These close links provide our students with opportunities to engage on projects outside of the classroom and build up the practical experience needed to break into to film industry.
