This course combines politics and international relations with the study of French, the first language of some 90 million speakers around the world. This provides a valuable skill set ideally tailored to the increasingly globalised workplace.

You will study the politics of individual countries and governments and the relationships between countries, communities and individuals.

Politics is organised around three themes:

• Political theory
• Comparative and national politics
• International relations.

In French, you combine advanced study of the language with cultural, literary and historical units. You spend your third year abroad, which enables you to refine your language skills and cultural knowledge and gain valuable work experience. The MSc Education Open Pathway allows you to design your own programme of study based on your areas of interest, rather than tying you in to a particular subject area. You can therefore pick and choose units from across the seven different specialist pathways as well as from our wider bank of optional units. For example, if your interests spanned both educational policy and the use of technology in education you might combine units from the Leadership and Policy Pathway with units from the Learning, Technology and Society Pathway.

A very diverse range of students take this pathway, attracted by the freedom that it offers. Many students are international drawn from a range of countries beyond Europe having recently completed their undergraduate studies. Many of these students nonetheless have some experience of teaching, volunteering or some other work experience in schools or education more broadly.

Other students, are more mature and returning to education after a longer period of work and so bring a wider wealth of experiences, yet wish to formalise their learning. Do you enjoy both physics and computing? Our MSci Physics with Scientific Computing combines study of the building blocks and forces of nature with training in the computational and data-science skills that are currently revolutionising science and society.

Computing skills are vital across many physics-related careers. Computers control advanced instrumentation and simulations predicting the properties of the universe, from subatomic particles to the formation of galaxies.

This course offers a unique combination of units and projects blending programming, machine learning, data science and high-performance computing with fundamental concepts in physics, to produce a new kind of scientist – one with a firm foundation in physics, a sound appreciation of scientific computing and an understanding of what can be achieved by combining them.

Year one gives you a comprehensive grounding in physics, mathematics and programming, while year two focuses on the principles of physics with further emphasis on scientific coding. In your final year, you will undertake a major research project, supervised by staff with expertise in physics and computing. Our students' final-year projects address questions at the frontier of our research fields. The most successful have been published in scientific journals.

This exciting professionally accredited four-year course gives you the opportunity to do a professional placement in your third year. It develops the attributes needed for a wide range of accounting, consulting and managerial career paths. It aims to equip you, as a future organisational decision maker, with the ability to interpret, assess and communicate financial and non-financial data.

During the first two years you will develop sound knowledge and understanding of accounting practices, financial management techniques, and contemporary theories and practices of management. The placement year will enhance your understanding of the areas of accounting and finance encountered in your studies. You will also develop an understanding of how an organisation operates and learn to take on responsibility within a team.

You will return to Bristol for your final year to study the disciplines of accounting and management in more depth. Beyond the core units, you can specialise by choosing from an evolving range of accounting and management units, for example Auditing, Financial Statement Analysis, Operations Management, or International Human Resource Management.

This course is available by transfer; you can apply to BSc Accounting and Management and register your interest to add a professional placement once you have joined us. Placement opportunities are based on first-year examination results and a successful application to a participating employer.

The different groups involved in microelectronics research at the University of Bristol have many collaborative links with multinational companies in the microelectronics industry. These organisations have identified a shortfall in graduates with the necessary qualifications and professional skills to work in the sector, so this programme has been designed to meet this need.

A range of taught subjects cover core topics, such as digital and analogue ASIC design, DSP and FPGA-based computing, integrated sensors and actuators, radio-frequency and mixed-signal design. Changes are made periodically to reflect important emerging disciplines, such as electronics for the Internet of things, biomedical applications and quantum photonics applications.

The programme offers you the opportunity to learn from experts in microelectronics, nanoelectronics and computer science.
