Alongside your economics studies you will apply your subject knowledge by translating ideas into plans for digital and creative enterprises, both social and commercial.

Your economics units will develop the necessary analytical and quantitative skills for a wide range of careers in economics and beyond. This technically rigorous course puts emphasis on econometrics – the application of statistical methods to data to estimate economic models – and is informed by the school’s research, which achieved a 100 per cent 4* ‘world-leading’ rating for research impact (REF 2014). You will become skilled in understanding economic concepts and applying formal models and econometrics tools to test behavioural predictions using real-world data.

The aim of the MSc in Educational Research is to provide the methodological, analytical and practical expertise required to become a competent educational researcher. Years one and two provide a broad background in biomedical science as well as information about viruses and the diseases they cause.

You will study the immune system and how it controls infection. You will also learn about autoimmune diseases that can occur if the immune system attacks the body's own tissues rather than an infectious agent.

In your final year you will review the main viral diseases of humankind in terms of their natural history, biology, molecular biology, immunology, pathogenesis and epidemiology. These include HIV, hepatitis B and C, papilloma, influenza, measles and coronaviruses, among others.

You will learn about cutting-edge issues in virology and immunology, including emerging viruses such as the SARS-CoV-2, Marburg and Ebola viruses.

You will also learn about the problems associated with the production of vaccines. You will normally work on a research project in either virology or immunology.

The course is designed for students who seek to broaden their knowledge in both the accounting and finance disciplines. 

The accounting aspect provides students with insight into accounting institutions (eg audit firms), accounting regulations and accounting techniques that are used by and support organisations that actively participate in and outside the financial market. 

The finance aspect explores financial institutions, financial trading, financial investment, financial regulations and structures that support the market. Students are kept abreast with current events through research-led teaching by academic experts in the field.

Field trips are a huge part of why our school community is so tight knit, giving you the chance to get to know your course mates and key staff, while honing your practical skills. You will gain plenty of hands-on experience, with over 40 days of fieldwork both in the UK and overseas, the cost of which is included in your tuition fee.
