Whether it is creating advanced engineering components, new kinds of prosthetic limbs, or complex pharmaceutical devices, Additive Manufacturing gives an engineer the ability to build structures with unprecedented degrees of complexity. This leads to new product generations that are completely unlike what has ever existed before. The digital and tool-less nature of additive manufacturing offers a range of new possibilities that are very exciting to today’s engineers.

This MSc programme will give you in-depth knowledge and understanding of Additive Manufacturing and 3D printing technology. You will gain the skills needed to:

• Evaluate the application of Additive Manufacturing technologies
• Apply methods in a project context
• Design additively manufactured devices
• Undertake individual research projects
• Critique, analyse, and communicate research findings

Computer science is more than just programming. It is about problem-solving and creativity. Our range of optional modules allows you to explore the areas of computer science that excite you. These include user experience design, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

You'll take part in a group project in year two which prepares you for designing and creating the computer systems of the future. Many projects are in collaboration with industry. Previous students have worked with Capital One, Experian, IBM and UniDays. All these companies have offices in Nottingham. This project is great for your CV and can help you make contacts ready for when you start your career.

The benefit of this course is you'll spend your third year abroad. You could be studying in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand or Singapore.

Our Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Management MSc will help you to harness your creativity and make your entrepreneurship goals a reality. It is ideal if you want to start your own enterprise, enter the family business or become a consultant who can work innovatively in a corporate setting.

You will explore topics including launching new ventures, entrepreneurial finances and e-business. You can also study venture capital and private equity, through a practical module that uses real life case studies and guest speakers with vast experience as venture capitalists.

The entrepreneurship project in semester two enables you to work to a brief and deliver a consultancy style report and presentation for the project sponsor - typically a founder of an entrepreneurial SME.

You will also be eligible for membership of the Ingenuity Lab, which will give you access to a wide range of roundtables and seminars hosted by our Entrepreneurs in Residence who also provide mentoring if you choose to undertake a summer business plan instead of a traditional dissertation.

Our MSc course in Biotechnology is about discovery, innovation and translation of knowledge to application of novel products. The emphasis of the course is about the impact of modern biotechnological tools and approaches to address today's global challenges, from food to therapeutics. You'll learn about fundamental cellular mechanisms, genetic manipulations of biological systems and production processes. You will be trained in high throughput technologies in taught modules such as advanced molecular methods and be equipped with strong research skills throughout the curriculum.

Industrial and commercial aspects of biotechnology bring you closer to the current trends and careers in the field.

You can specialise in plant, microbial or animal biotechnology:

• Plant pathway – provides the theory and practical skills in plant genetic manipulation, plant breeding, crop improvement and genome research.
• Microbial pathway – study gene expression and metabolic engineering of micro-organisms. You'll gain theory and practical skills on the use of microbial production platforms for various end purposes such as therapeutics and biofuels.
• Animal pathway – gain specialist knowledge and practical skills, from reproductive biotechnologies to stem cell therapies.

Our BSc Industrial Economics will enable you to uncover the answers to these questions and more, giving you an understanding of the complex relationships between economics and global business practices. You’ll examine a company, take an in-depth look at its structure, markets, competitors and external economic environment.

You can follow your individual interests and career aspirations by selecting from optional modules alongside your core subjects. You could also really enhance your CV by opting for a work placement year at a company where you can be at the front line of business.

There's also the opportunity to gain a global perspective by studying abroad at our own campuses in China or Malaysia, or at a partner institution in locations including Australia, Sweden and the USA.
