Our MA Digital Teaching and Learning course aims to strengthen your understanding of learning in the digital age and explore how digital technology can transform the teaching and learning experience.

This course increases your knowledge of digital technologies as resources for learning. You will evaluate the use of such technologies in educational contexts and assess how new learning technology can be implemented at a variety of levels in both formal and informal education.

You will also analyse contemporary ideas and theories about learning from both cognitive and socio-cultural perspectives, then consider these against the wider social debates that impact on technology enhanced learning.

It is ideal for working teachers who want to gain an advanced understanding of how digital technologies could be used in the classroom, or wish to go onto a PhD.

This course is informed by the work of the Learning Sciences Research Institute and draws on expertise from psychology, computer science and education. It provides a unique perspective on the theories that underpin successful learning, teaching and innovation within the fast-moving digital world.

Our MSc course in Biotechnology is about discovery, innovation and translation of knowledge to application of novel products. The emphasis of the course is about the impact of modern biotechnological tools and approaches to address today's global challenges, from food to therapeutics. You'll learn about fundamental cellular mechanisms, genetic manipulations of biological systems and production processes. You will be trained in high throughput technologies in taught modules such as advanced molecular methods and be equipped with strong research skills throughout the curriculum.

Industrial and commercial aspects of biotechnology bring you closer to the current trends and careers in the field.

You can specialise in plant, microbial or animal biotechnology:

• Plant pathway – provides the theory and practical skills in plant genetic manipulation, plant breeding, crop improvement and genome research.
• Microbial pathway – study gene expression and metabolic engineering of micro-organisms. You'll gain theory and practical skills on the use of microbial production platforms for various end purposes such as therapeutics and biofuels.
• Animal pathway – gain specialist knowledge and practical skills, from reproductive biotechnologies to stem cell therapies.

Our core modules will give you a grounding in all the key principles in management science, including corporate financial strategy, managing people and managerial economics. This MSc course offers the chance to study advanced topics in mechanical engineering.

Building upon this broad base, we offer a number of streams which allow you to specialise in one particular area including aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, or a general advanced mechanical engineering option.

This flexible course examines the educational needs of children with labels of learning difficulties and disabilities. You’ll consider the importance of communication and literacy and analyse how different countries approach identification and assessments for children with special needs. It is designed for graduates, teachers or other professionals who have an interest in increasing their knowledge and skills in the field of special and inclusive education.
