Modern biochemists study the molecular processes of life. Our Biochemistry MSci (integrated masters degree in science) covers topics from DNA to proteins, single molecules to cells, all the way up to complex lifeforms. This course will prepare you for a career in clinical biochemistry, biotechnology or pharmacology. It also provides the perfect foundation for further research or a PhD.

This programme has the same curriculum as our 3-year BEng Mechatronics degree, but includes an additional year. This is when you’ll study mechatronics in greater depth and develop your professional skills. It also has a strong focus on practical work, including the design and build of an autonomous robot.

This MEng Mechatronic Engineering master's degree is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Chemistry plays a key role in tackling some of the world’s biggest problems. You’ll use state of the art equipment in our range of laboratories. These include the single crystal diffraction lab, the mass spectrometry lab and a dedicated X-ray crystallography teaching facility.

You'll do 2 research projects. The first will be in Southampton within one of our research groups. This will prepare you for your second year-long project in industry, or at a research establishment.

You'll take part in distance learning lectures to support you during your placement. Completing the year-long project will clearly show your academic independence to future employers.

This degree is accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry. When you graduate you'll be eligible for full membership status (MRSC).
