Our MSc Artificial Intelligence & Applications is a conversion degree designed specifically for graduates without a computing science background.

It's based on the Office for Artificial Intelligence’s 2018 recommendations for AI Masters courses. You'll learn not just core AI-techniques, but how to place them within a business context so as to show their value.

A skills shortage, particularly around machine learning, means graduates are in high demand. Studying an undergraduate degree in history – the story of humanity through the ages – develops your knowledge of the past and gives you a better understanding of the present.

Throughout your BA Hons History course, you'll receive excellent training in areas such as problem-solving, communication, research methods and interpretation.  

Our classes cover some of the most important and interesting historical periods at home and abroad, including Scotland’s ‘Highland Problem’ in the 16th century, Slavery in World History and Cold War Europe, 1945-1991.

Students can enjoy an optional year abroad – studying at a foreign university – as part of our course.

Our BA degrees in Humanities & Social Sciences are initially broad-based. In Year 1 you'll study three subjects, including your chosen subject(s).

This joint degree is offered in partnership with Strathclyde Business School.

You’ll have access to well-equipped, modern computing laboratories and teaching rooms, as well as 24-hour access to an advanced computer information network and a sophisticated virtual e-learning environment. We have also an undergraduate common room which gives you a modern and flexible area that's used for individual and group study work and is also a relaxing social space.

The MPhys teaches physics in greater depth than the BSc Honours degree. It’s for those of you who want to pursue a professional career in physics, with classes designed to meet the needs of the professional physicist.

You’ll focus your studies on a specific area, such as theoretical and computational physics, plasma physics or laser physics. You’ll also undertake a project, supervised by a member of staff in their research labs.

There is a strong emphasis on laboratory work, which will help you develop a sound understanding of experimental physics and instrumentation.

You’ll complete your laboratory work training with a research project carried out in an up-to-date research lab, attached to one of the department’s research groups. This allows you to benefit from our lively and diverse research environment.

Biochemistry is the study of the composition, metabolism and function of biological systems at a molecular level. Biochemistry and the related field of molecular biology provide important advances in understanding the molecular basis of life and its role in the disease process.

Pharmacology is the study of how drugs and other chemicals affect the body in health and disease. This area explores the development of new and improved medicines and the treatment of disease.

The opportunity to choose specific degree combinations will allow you to go into specialist biomedical science areas such as neuroscience, cardiovascular research, immunopharmacology, industrial immunology, drug research, biochemistry, microbiology and bacteriology.
