The management of large complex systems engineering projects demands a unique set of skills that are not taught within conventional engineering or business management programmes.

The aim of our MSc in Systems Engineering Management programme is to develop systems engineering management capability by creating graduates who understand the complexities of the management situations they face, and who can apply systems thinking approaches and techniques to address the challenge of managing the complexity between the technical system being developed and the people and organisations that are responsible.

You'll focus on engineered systems, however, many of the skills and techniques you'll acquire are equally applicable to other complex systems such as manufacturing and organisations.

The International Master Project Management (iMPM) is suitable for both recent graduates and those already in the workplace. It offers a balanced programme of professional training at postgraduate level. 

The course explores the most recent approaches in project management with a cross-sectorial and intercultural perspective that focuses on managerial, behavioural and technical competencies.

You'll look at the strategic and holistic demands of modern projects in contemporary organisations and gain knowledge in an emerging field that combines:

• Project management as a process to deliver complex change
• Strategic management as a process for formulating and implementing organisational strategy
• The development of transferable skills. Particularly teamwork, leadership, communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and presentation for employment

You can study accounting in combination with a range of business subjects at Strathclyde. In the majority of combinations, accounting is fully accredited for entry to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland .You may be offered possible exemptions to other professional bodies eg Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

In-depth understanding of a second subject will complement your accounting studies and prove valuable to employers.

You’ll study the preparation, presentation and interpretation of financial information. You’ll learn how to read and interpret accounting information. You’ll also explore how accounting can be developed to meet the needs of society and provide information to investors.

In your Honours year, you’ll study issues in class then investigate them further in a dissertation project.

There are a number of ways you can study law at Strathclyde, one such way being the BA degree in combination with another subject. The MSc Prosthetics & Orthotics is one of the few programmes globally that offers a specific degree in prosthetics and orthotics. The National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics (NCPO), within the Department of Biomedical Engineering, has an international reputation for quality education within this field. Staff of the NCPO is involved in research and clinical practice both nationally and internationally.
