This MSc recognises the need for skilled graduates to address the world’s major issues in electrical power and energy systems. It offers an integrated programme that delivers advanced-level traditional power engineering subjects, complemented by a range of modules that are critical to the management of a modern energy system.

The balance of knowledge in fundamental power engineering, distributed energy resources, and technologies that enable greater system visibility will equip students in essential skills to lead the industry in the process of transformation to a sustainable energy future. The MPhys teaches physics in greater depth than the BSc Honours degree. It’s for those of you who want to pursue a professional career in physics, with classes designed to meet the needs of the professional physicist.

You’ll focus your studies on a specific area, such as theoretical and computational physics, plasma physics or laser physics. You’ll also undertake a project, supervised by a member of staff in their research labs.

There is a strong emphasis on laboratory work, which will help you develop a sound understanding of experimental physics and instrumentation.

You’ll complete your laboratory work training with a research project carried out in an up-to-date research lab, attached to one of the department’s research groups. This allows you to benefit from our lively and diverse research environment.

This innovative degree is a joint venture between the University of Strathclyde and three further education colleges - West College Scotland, Glasgow Clyde College and New College Lanarkshire.

The degree aims to prepare you for working in settings which combine health education and social work/social care. You’ll enter college at a Diploma of Higher Education level, having first studied a relevant HNC. You’ll then go on to Year 3 at Strathclyde to study for the BA.

The Education & Social Services (BA) responds to the Scottish Government’s aspiration for different services to communicate more effectively and to work in a more integrated way to meet the service-user needs of children, young people and adults. Our Masters in Autonomous Robotic Intelligent Systems is designed to provide a wide-ranging background in autonomous technologies that can be applied in a variety of disciplines. UK growth in the global robotics market is forecast to reach £13 billion by 2025 and this offers huge job opportunities. 

The course focuses on state-of-the-art technologies for autonomous control and machine learning with applications in robotics, sensor networks, big data analytics, and autonomous agents.

Emphasis is given to topics that support a new emerging generation of self-sustaining and intelligent devices created for the Internet of Things, Ubiquitous Computing, and Industry 4.0 environments.

The MSc is delivered jointly by the Departments of Electronic & Electrical Engineering, and Design, Manufacture & Engineering Management.

Biochemistry is the study of the composition, metabolism and function of biological systems at a molecular level. Biochemistry and the related field of molecular biology provide important advances in understanding the molecular basis of life and its role in the disease process.

Pharmacology is the study of how drugs and other chemicals affect the body in health and disease. This area explores the development of new and improved medicines and the treatment of disease.

The opportunity to choose specific degree combinations will allow you to go into specialist biomedical science areas such as neuroscience, cardiovascular research, immunopharmacology, industrial immunology, drug research, biochemistry, microbiology and bacteriology.
