Study abroad

You may choose to take an intercalated year in industry, research or study abroad between years two and three (BEng and MEng) or between years three and four (MEng only). If you choose to take an intercalated year this will be reflected in your degree title, and add a year to your degree programme.

Why do people think, behave, and understand themselves in certain ways? Why does this vary between individuals and across cultures? How might a more complete understanding of human behavior help to achieve a more sustainable future for all? A BASc in Psychology and GSD challenges you to ask these questions across both sides of your degree program.

You will study biological, developmental, and social aspects of human psychology with Warwick's Psychology Department. Meanwhile, you will balance your studies with the GSD Department, by delving into the Big Questions of today, including food and water security, gender equality, and climate change. Throughout, you will be researching the relationship between individual behavior and the global challenges we all face.

Our students are aspiring global citizens with social consciences. They’re flexible, adaptable and broad-minded.

By studying GSD, you’ll take a transdisciplinary approach and confront issues from a diverse array of perspectives. You will need to be ready to think creatively and embrace new opinions from your peers from across the world. We will challenge you to become an active participant in your own learning.

Study abroad
We encourage you to take the opportunity to study abroad during your course at Warwick.

• Enjoy the freedom to take chances with your module choices.

• You may have the opportunity to learn a new language and immerse yourself in a new learning context.
• You may choose to apply for an intercalated year spent either studying abroad or on a work placement (subject to you meeting departmental academic requirements). This will mean extending your course to four years.

If you want to extend your learning and broaden your perspective by studying abroad for a year, Warwick has partnerships with universities across the world. You will spend your first and second years at Warwick, studying abroad in your third year. You will then return to Warwick for your final year.

Economics plays a part in every aspect of modern life, investigating the choices of consumers and corporations, groups and governments, networks and nations. It uses scientific methods to develop theoretical models of behaviour and markets, institutions and public policy. Germany is the leading economy in the EU, making the joint study of economics and German language and culture a powerful combination.

This joint degree enables you to acquire in-depth relevant linguistic and cultural studies while developing your ability as an analyst of international economic phenomena. You will spend half of your time in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures and the other in the Department of Economics.

You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you will move to a three-year. You will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

This degree will equip you with the techniques to manage the strategic development of e-business based organisations and appropriate e-business technologies. You will develop the skills and knowledge to evaluate, manage, and improve the operational functions of an organisation and to apply the concepts of systems integration to the design and development of products and services through market analysis.

With the exponential growth in e-Business activity worldwide, there is great demand for e-Business professionals who bring particular specialised knowledge and skills. This MSc therefore allows you to select from one of four specialisms, providing you with a deeper understanding of one of the key areas of e-Business deployments and tailoring your modules in line with your future career path.

Why are ‘private troubles’ also ‘public issues’? This course enables you to explore and answer questions just like this. The course will appeal if you are interested in how social life shapes individuals’ experiences of the world around us.

From across sociology and allied social sciences, you will gain a thorough understanding of theories and methodologies. Then you will have the opportunity to tailor your programme to your own specific interests through our wide range of options.

Your period of study will involve you examining individuals’ experiences, and encounters with structures and institutions; reading new empirical research; exploring social theories; and assessing innovative methodologies.

The unique English and History degree at Warwick explores these ideas through modules that span time and geography: from the ancient to the contemporary, and from Europe to Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

As well as choosing from a wide range of modules in both departments (and in others), you will study special core modules that are exclusively for English and History students, bringing the two subjects together and thinking about how literature helps us to understand the past, and how history can illuminate works of literature. You will examine the literary techniques employed in historical writing, and consider how the past is represented in poetry, plays, and novels.

At all times, we will encourage you to develop your own ideas and arguments, to critically analyse what others say and write, and to think in new and imaginative ways about how we know the past through texts.

Choosing our BEng or MEng Engineering degree is an ideal route into Engineering if you wish to sample all our disciplines and want a sustained broad learning experience.

Delivered jointly by the School of Engineering and WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group), you will be taught by experts across the fields of automotive, biomedical, civil, electrical, electronic, manufacturing, mechanical and systems engineering.

The Warwick course will allow you to develop sought-after skills including a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving, the ability to manage projects and communicate ideas, and the capacity to lead, research, design, innovate and develop products and systems.

By choosing the MEng degree you can explore specialist areas of Engineering through fourth-year core and optional module choices and a group project.

Study abroad

As an MEng student you may choose to take your third year as an exchange year at a partner university abroad, subject to academic requirements and approval of study programme.

You will be taught by academics who are shaping the field internationally within both Psychology and Linguistics, and those working at the intersection of both subjects.

You will gain a critical awareness of psychological research and theory; the ability to analyze the structure of language and patterns of the language; plus communication, research, presentation and collaboration skills.

Our Department is part of the University’s large global network of exchange partners, with long-standing agreements with prestigious universities around the world. A particularly popular Warwick option is with Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, acknowledged as one of the world’s top universities.

Our students have previously undertaken study abroad opportunities in Brazil, China, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and the USA. Typically, when students choose to study abroad, they apply in their second year for the third year of study at a partner institution. Students then return to Warwick for their final year.

Our MSc Marketing and Strategy combines the two disciplines providing you with the theoretical background for making marketing decisions, both within companies and from advisory perspectives in service providers and consultancies.

Teaching illustrates the application of learned techniques to real situations. There is a choice of Dissertation or Business in Practice route. If you are considering further academic study (PhD) and you would like the opportunity to research a topic relating to marketing or strategy, the dissertation enables you to test and apply the techniques and theories you have gained.

If you would like to develop further applied skills and specialist knowledge to suit your career aspirations, you can complete your studies with one additional elective module and our applied Business in Practice module.

Neuroscience is the discipline that encompasses the study of the brain and nervous system in health and disease. It is an enormous field spanning genomic, molecular, cellular, network and behavioural levels.

This degree course is designed for students who wish to develop a greater understanding of the most complex and enigmatic of organs.

With the knowledge and practical experience gained on this course, you will be able to develop a career in neuroscience and human health. Careers could include academic research, laboratory services, pharmaceutical drug discovery or clinical trials. Alternatively, you may wish to pursue a career in employment sectors that appreciate the value of a solid understanding of scientific principles, methods and approaches.
