Our MSc in Economics and Data Science is for graduates in Economics who would like to pursue and specialise in Data Science and Machine Learning through a postgraduate-level degree. The course links economic theory and empirical economics with the fast developing field of Data Science. You will acquire knowledge and skills in the areas of macroeconomic and microeconomic theory, econometrics, big data, machine learning and coding. An 8,000-word dissertation provides an opportunity to explore your own interests across these fields of study.

You will be automatically enrolled on a pre-sessional Mathematics and Statistics programme to equip you with the relevant methodological skills you need to succeed.

By the end of the course you will have the knowledge of quantitative methods to analyse large amounts of data with the purpose of generating new findings and insights relevant to problems in Economics.

It is a practical course, covering the process from generating new business ideas, developing, testing, and refining ideas, and designing the infrastructure, right through to launching the business. You will focus on how innovation can be exploited in technological and business contexts, to increase success for new product or services-based businesses.

You will cover themes such as business modelling, sales, starting a new business, innovation, leadership and financial issues. Throughout your dissertation, you will rigorously develop your own business ideas, guided by experienced mentors, so that by the end of the course you will be in a strong position to launch your own business.

We have a Business Accelerator within the department, where companies and student start-ups can get ongoing technology and business support, a large alumni network of successful entrepreneurs, and pathways for entrepreneurship visa sponsorship.

You will be taught by academics who are shaping the field internationally within both Psychology and Linguistics, and those working at the intersection of both subjects.

You will gain a critical awareness of psychological research and theory; the ability to analyze the structure of language and patterns of the language; plus communication, research, presentation and collaboration skills.

Typically, when students choose to study abroad, they apply in their second year for the third year of study at a partner institution. Students then return to Warwick for their final year.

After building solid foundations in each of the three subjects in your first year, you then have the flexibility to tailor your module choices to suit your own interests. This allows you to graduate with either a BA or a BSc.

You also have the opportunity to apply to spend a year abroad with one of our international partners. On certain pathways, you can also apply to take a work placement.

Study abroad

You have the opportunity to spend a year abroad. You could study at prestigious universities throughout Europe and in the US, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and more as part of the course.

Choosing our BEng or MEng Engineering degree is an ideal route into Engineering if you wish to sample all our disciplines and want a sustained broad learning experience.

As with all our degrees, you will decide whether to stay on this general pathway or switch to another engineering course during your second year of study.

Delivered jointly by the School of Engineering and WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group), you will be taught by experts across the fields of automotive, biomedical, civil, electrical, electronic, manufacturing, mechanical and systems engineering.

General Engineers can see synergy across these disciplines which enables them to solve high-level problems. The Warwick course will allow you to develop sought-after skills including a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving, the ability to manage projects and communicate ideas, and the capacity to lead, research, design, innovate and develop products and systems.

Study abroad

You may choose to take an intercalated year in industry, research or study abroad between years two and three (BEng and MEng) or between years three and four (MEng only). If you choose to take an intercalated year this will be reflected in your degree title, and add a year to your degree programme.

Global sustainable development requires a global political dialogue.

Understanding key political concepts, ideologies, and practices of national and international governments is essential for providing solutions for sustainable development. This course considers testing questions such as:

Why do states marginalise human rights in place of geopolitical aims?
Why has water and food security become a critical foreign policy concern for governments?
Why does political gridlock frequently emerge in discussions on climate change?
You will seek to answer these questions, combining theoretical and analytical approaches from Politics with the transdisciplinary approach of GSD.

By studying GSD, you will confront issues from a diverse array of perspectives. You will need to be ready to think creatively and embrace new opinions from your peers from across the world. We will challenge you to become an active participant in your own learning.

You can enhance your skills and studies through optional work placements, study abroad, and certificates.

Italian and Classics will enable you to focus on both the Classical world and modern Italy.

You will study Latin alongside modern Italian in your first year and you can choose to continue Latin in your intermediate and final years too.

On the Classics side of the degree, you will have a wide choice of modules on Greek and Roman culture and you can explore the connections between the Classical world and the civilisations of Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East.

You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you will move to a three-year. You will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

Most students going to Italy opt for an exchange at a partner university. Some are successful in obtaining a (highly competitive) language assistantship. Most students apply through the British Council's English Language Assistant scheme during the first term of their second year at Warwick.

The unique English and History degree at Warwick explores these ideas through modules that span time and geography: from the ancient to the contemporary, and from Europe to Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

As well as choosing from a wide range of modules in both departments (and in others), you will study special core modules that are exclusively for English and History students, bringing the two subjects together and thinking about how literature helps us to understand the past, and how history can illuminate works of literature. You will examine the literary techniques employed in historical writing, and consider how the past is represented in poetry, plays, and novels.

At all times, we will encourage you to develop your own ideas and arguments, to critically analyse what others say and write, and to think in new and imaginative ways about how we know the past through texts.

This programme draws on our long-established strengths in Continental Philosophy. It is distinctive in offering an unusually broad range of module options specifically in this area of philosophy. Modules cover 19th and 20th century Continental Philosophy, major figures and themes, as well as more specialised or less mainstream topics drawing on individual research strengths.

Because of the breadth of our expertise in this area, whichever module options you choose, you will be taught by world leaders in their respective fields.
