Our Advanced Mechanical Engineering MSc focuses on the key skills required by the modern mechanical engineer.

You will develop the versatility and depth of knowledge to deal with new and unusual challenges across a wide range of disciplines, within engineering and beyond. Teaching is underpinned by research in automotive systems, biomedical engineering, solid and fluid mechanics, electrical and thermal energy systems, energy conversion/storage and sustainable cities.

You will also complete an individual research project – an in-depth experimental, theoretical or computational investigation of a topic chosen by you in conjunction with your academic supervisor.

On this flexible degree you will explore how we can work and live in a way that safeguards environmental, social, and economic wellbeing, both in the present and for future generations.

Global Sustainable Development (GSD) students are broad-minded, adaptable, and aspiring global citizens with social consciences.

By studying GSD, you will take a transdisciplinary approach and confront issues from a diverse range of perspectives. You will also need to think creatively and embrace new opinions from your peers across the world.

We will challenge you to become an active participant in your own learning and help you to develop professional skills throughout your degree. You can enhance your skills and studies through optional work placements, study abroad, and certificates.

The application of new biological concepts in medicine is an ever-growing and exciting process. Developments in molecular, genetic and cellular biology research continue to drive progress in areas such as vaccine development, neurogenerative diseases and metabolic diseases.

You will develop the hands-on lab, problem solving and research skills employer’s desire. If you are considering a career in medicine, we provide mentoring and support for medical school applications.

You can opt to take a year-long industrial placement or study abroad between your second and third years.

Study abroad

As an alternative to a work placement we support student mobility with the opportunity to apply for a year abroad at one of our partner universities all over the world. The Study Abroad Team supports these activities, and the School’s dedicated Study Abroad Co-ordinator will provide more specific information and assistance.

Our four-year MBio gives you the opportunity to undertake an extended final-year research project in-house.

Our challenging degree will harness your strong mathematical ability and commitment, enabling you to explore your passion for mathematics. You will be taught by world-leading researchers in a supportive environment, where learning spaces – including breakout areas and common spaces – are all geared towards you sharing, collaborating and exploring your academic curiosity.

Pure Mathematics modules combine the work of some of the world’s greatest thinkers, while Applied Mathematics addresses real-world problems in biology, data science, climate science and finance. Many third and fourth-year modules offer glimpses of the latest research.

The four-year MMath shares the same core as the BSc but enables you to explore areas of interest in greater depth, both through specialised fourth year modules and via a substantial Research or Maths-in-Action project.

Study abroad

We encourage students to consider spending Year Three at one of 23 European partner universities in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland.

Our MSc programme encompasses a breadth of pure and applied mathematics. This makes it an ideal choice if you aspire to become a professional scientist or you have a reasonable mathematical background and wish to learn about the interactions between sciences and mathematics.

As an interdisciplinary MSc student, you will take modules in related subjects such as Physics, Biology, Economics or any of the other departments listed below. The knowledge and skills you will acquire will prove useful for a range of future scientific careers or if you wish to progress to PhD level studies in Mathematics or one of the sciences.

Spanish is a world language with around 400 million speakers. Today, Spanish is one of the most important languages for commerce and cultural exchange.

We offer an innovative approach, combining the study of the Spanish language with the study of the diverse range of Hispanic cultures across Europe, the Caribbean, the Americas, and even aspects of Hispanic history in Africa and the Pacific.

Combining Hispanic Studies with film means you will graduate as a highly qualified linguist with advanced intercultural skills. You will gain an excellent knowledge of visual aesthetics, cinematic culture and narrative forms.

You will spend a 75% of your time on Hispanic Studies and 25% of your time focusing on Film Studies. Your second or third year will normally be spent abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you will move to a three-year. You will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

By studying linguistics together with Italian, you will explore the fascinating human capacity for language, while also building your fluency in Italian. As a linguist, you will learn about the structure and function of language, and about relationships between language and society.

You will also study and practice written and oral communication in Italian, and learn broadly about communicating across languages and cultures. Your skills in linguistic analysis will support your language learning, and your knowledge of Italian will complement your work as a linguist. This course opens many career opportunities that require the knowledge and skills of both a modern language and a deep understanding of language, culture and communication.

(75% linguistics, 25% Italian).

Study abroad

If you wish to spend a year abroad (which we thoroughly recommend), this will take place in your third year, meaning that you will complete your degree in four years instead of three. All students have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated year abroad at one of our partner universities. The Student Mobility Team offers support for these activities, and the Department's dedicated Study Abroad Co-ordinator can provide more specific information and assistance.

Our Biological Sciences course spans the entire scale of biological systems, from molecules to ecosystems. Our exceptionally wide range of options allow you to choose modules that are best suited to your interests and career ambitions.

You will be exposed to cutting-edge research in molecular, cellular and whole organism biology, while covering applications of science to major global challenges such as environmental management, food security and human health.

History at Warwick asks you to look critically at the motivations, context and characters behind the events that define world history from the Renaissance to the present day. Our far-reaching approach allows you to explore historical topics in depth from around the globe. The department is studded with expertise spanning the British Isles, continental Europe, Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin and North America.

In your first year we'll support you as you develop a foundational understanding of the past. You'll then be ready to choose between working towards a Modern or Renaissance and Modern History degree. The Modern History degree offers a diverse, global curriculum of important historical themes and topics. The Renaissance and Modern degree gives you the chance to explore your historical interests while also spending a term in Venice. Throughout your degree you'll have the freedom to develop your own independent view on the historical themes that most excite you.

Students will be offered the opportunity at the start of their second year to apply for an optional Year Abroad. Following the application process, those students who are offered and take up a Year Abroad place transfer to the four-year History (with a Year Abroad), with the Year Abroad as the third of the four years.

Study abroad

On Renaissance and Modern students spend the autumn term of their final year studying with Warwick tutors in Venice. All students also have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated year abroad at one of our partner universities.
