Concordia’s photography major prepares you for the world ahead with the skills and awareness to pursue your chosen future.

The Photography Major is part of a comprehensive curriculum at Concordia intended to develop your professional skills as well as spiritual and intellectual values. Your classes outside your major at CUW will provide you with a well-rounded bachelor’s degree, and your study of photography will include a chosen minor in perhaps Marketing, Business, English, or Graphic Design to help you build the necessary skills for a successful career in photography. Your major courses will be supplemented by internship opportunities that will give each student professional experiences, and enhance your preparation for the professional world.

A degree in Photography can lead to a variety of careers, including fine art, commercial photography, journalism, editing, education and research, museum and online curation, art direction, marketing, storytelling, and more. We encourage students to develop their own professional techniques and style. You’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of the craft of photography using Concordia’s digital facilities to develop contemporary skills, and darkroom facilities to understand and explore historical processes.

Classes outside your major will consist of the liberal arts core curriculum, your selected minor, and foundational studio art courses. In the Photography Major you will study photographic composition, camera usage, studio and natural lighting, editing, digital technologies, contemporary marketing practices, portfolio development, image presentation, and develop the ability to photograph a wide array of subject matter with personal intent and professional standards.

Computer scientists are instrumental to anything and everything that involves computers. And let’s be honest, pretty much everything today involves computers. Robotics, virtual reality, and videogames are often cited as future job areas, but you could also be a part of many other fields—animation, music, automobiles, analytics…the list goes on.

What comes to mind when you think of computer science? In our modern world, there are decreasingly fewer things that don't rely on computers and technology in some shape or form, making computer science one of the most practical and versatile fields of study out there. At Concordia, we define computer science as solving problems using technology. If you can learn to create and manage technology solutions, you can apply your skills to just about any career path.

With five different concentrations available and substantial flexibility in electives, you have the power to customize this degree and make it your own. In this program, you'll receive a well-rounded education through the Concordia Core, as well as a firm foundation of computer science knowledge through our Technology Core. You'll learn the ins and outs of hardware, software, operating systems, databases, coding, and user interfaces. From there, you can branch out into one or more concentrations of computer science, specializing in the areas that are of most interest to you. You can use your electives to earn multiple concentrations, or to explore coursework in any other field at Concordia, broadening your knowledge base.

Why a Bachelor's Degree in Theological Studies? This program gives you options. If you simply want to study God’s Word for the sake of your personal growth, you’ll receive a solid foundation in doctrine. However, there is much more you will benefit from with a theology degree.

God reveals himself through his Word and, to a lesser degree, through his world. This program examines the Bible, God’s revealed Word, in broad introductory overviews of the Holy Scriptures (isagogics) as well as in close reading of a particular biblical book (exegetical studies). This program also studies God’s providence in history. In addition, students receive practical training in the application of their studies in ministry to others.

Through participation in, and upon completion of, the Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies at Concordia University Wisconsin, students will:

• Have a greater understanding of God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures
• Appreciate the value of sound Christian doctrine based squarely on the Bible
• Develop a heightened awareness of God’s working throughout history
• Grow in their relationship with Christ and put his teachings into practice in their vocations
• Employ various methods of delivering and defending biblical truth in a relevant and practical way to diverse groups

You can expect to benefit from a well-rounded study of biblical and systematic theology, along with the application of theology in your life within the Christian Church. You’ll be delving into the Old and New Testaments, systematic doctrine, and practical theology (teaching and worship). We offer a lot (seriously, a LOT) of theology electives, so you can explore and grow in the particular areas that interest you.

In order to meet the diverse needs of congregations, you will gain a wide range of skills through completion of a theology major and two minors. Your first minor, Church Ministries, includes a specialization chosen from six areas of church ministry. These include: Evangelism, Missions, Parish Teaching, Youth Ministry, Christian Service Learning & Leadership, and Social Ministry (for men) or Pre-Deaconess (for women intending to enroll in the deaconess programs at either of the LCMS seminaries). Your second minor is Nonprofit Management. For those of you who really want to specialize in more than one area of church ministry, it’s possible to do so by carefully choosing electives that apply.

While all courses and doctrine are taught in accord with the Lutheran confessions, men and women of any denomination are welcome to join this program. Only members of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod will be certified and may be eligible to be rostered with the LCMS as a “Minister of Religion Commissioned—Director of Church Ministries (DCM).”

In fact, some of the most important achievements of our time would not have been possible without the field of mathematics. Whether you’re looking to help progress technology or you want to use your gifts to help consult businesses, our bachelor’s degree in mathematics will teach you the skills you need to have an impact.

One of the reasons that mathematics is so appealing is because it’s true. You can solve the same equation for X over and over again and the answer remains consistent. In our mathematics program, you’ll find satisfaction in discovering the right answer and enjoy the challenge of a complicated problem. Throughout the program, you’ll learn how to use computers and computer systems for problem solving, explore the relationship between a Christian worldview and a technological science, and complete a research project on a mathematical topic of interest. Every step of the way, you’ll have experienced professors guiding you. You’re not a number at Concordia - you’re a student who will get to know your professors and receive meaningful mentorship.

As a graduate of the mathematics program, you’ll have a deep comprehension of (and appreciation for) areas like calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, geometry, abstract algebra and real analysis. You’ll be able to solve and understand differential equations, sequences and series, vector-valued functions, partial derivatives, functions and algorithms. And you won’t be graduating with only math skills. Because you take liberal arts courses for your core requirements, you’ll leave the graduation stage with stronger communication skills, a better understanding of other cultures and an appreciation for the social sciences - all while having opportunities to explore and strengthen your faith.

The food and beverage track of the MPD, explores the business of food and beverage development; from the development process in the marketplace, to package design, to marketing and management. You’ll partner with industry leaders on projects, and perform work in state-of-the-art food science and sensory labs.

Of course, a program like this wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t teach you the entrepreneurial skills you’ll need to start your own company. But you’ll also learn to build critical-thinking and teamwork skills through case-based teaching and labs, blending technical skills with business, legal, regulatory, and compliance knowledge. You’ll learn how to use analytics and demand projections to make management decisions, while using concepts—like Lean Six Sigma and sensitivity analysis—to solve operations and process-optimization challenges.

This degree offers a Lutheran Christian perspective on public health and prepares you to serve Christ around the world as a globally minded citizen working to protect and promote the public’s health. It is an engaging, multidisciplinary educational program filled with practical application opportunities to prepare you to be a strong, competitive candidate in the public health sector.

In this degree program, you will have the opportunity to personalize your concentration depending on your interest. Regardless of which concentration you choose, all undergraduate students will complete a minimum of 120 credits, including 45 credit hours of general education core curricula, 25 credit hours of required public health coursework, and 3 credit hours of a culminating/capstone project

If you welcome a challenge and are passionate about helping others, a career in speech-language pathology or audiology is right for you. Our Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) major is offered by of the Speech-Language Pathology Department at Concordia University Wisconsin. It begins with foundational knowledge of speech, language, hearing, swallowing, normal lifespan development, and leads to hands-on experiences with children and adults with communication disorders. Whether you choose a career in speech-language pathology or audiology, both require a graduate degree to enter clinical practice.
After your introduction to normal speech, language, hearing and swallowing development and disorders, you’ll get hands-on experience through community service learning and clinical observation experiences. As a senior, you may have the opportunity to gain supervised experience in our forthcoming on-campus clinic.

• Knowledge in basic speech, language, communication and swallowing processes.
• An understanding of evidence-based prevention, evaluation and intervention practice for speech, language, hearing, communication, and swallowing disorders.
• Effective verbal and written professional skills.
• Professional interaction skills with patients, families, and other health care professionals.
• Ethical and professional behavior in clinical care through service learning and/or clinical services in our forthcoming on-campus Interprofessional Education (IPE) clinic.
• The completion of 25 required hours of clinical observation.

The art education program is designed to provide you with a challenging course of study that will focus on art to enhance your intellectual development, personal growth, and career satisfaction. You will develop your own abilities as an artist and then learn how to help others create and appreciate art. This means, you’ll benefit from a well-rounded overview of the history, purpose, and technical methods of art.

If you don’t have a teaching license, don’t worry. You do not need to have one in order to participate in this program. If you are interested in working with children, their families, and at-risk youth then this program will provide valuable education for you. However, if you have (or are pursuing) your teaching license, then upon completion of the program, you’ll have the option to seek an additional license in art (#1952).

As an educator, you will learn to better understand the role of artistic activity in the human condition, possess an advanced knowledge of art curricula and pedagogy, demonstrate a high level of competence with visual arts media, and be aware of past and current practices in the the field. Our priority is to provide you with the theories that then inform your educational practices. For example, you’ll study how to use works of art, museum visits, and technology to enhance your students’ education.
