Study how to create complex hardware and software systems, manage complex computer information systems (IT), and lead a technical team. Now offering two new tracks in Software Engineering and Computer Information Systems. Both of these tracks will build on your existing experience by deepening your skills and knowledge in the main areas of computer science. A bachelor's degree in a related field is recommended, but not required. Optional catch-up modules are available for each course to help bring you up to speed.

Upon completion of the MSCS program, you’ll be trained in problem solving, collaboration, creative design processes, professional literature, writing, presentation, and ethical practices. You’ll be prepared for advanced professional positions in software development and other technical/design-oriented roles in computing.

Our computer science master's program was designed with working professionals in mind. You’ll get a rigorous, quality education that fits within your busy schedule. All courses will be available online in an accelerated eight week format, but three courses per semester will be offered face-to-face on campus.

Information Systems

While software engineering focuses on the development of technology solutions, information systems puts a greater emphasis on the application and management of technology solutions. The specialization courses explore advanced networking, hardware and software system design, integration, and administration in the context of current emerging technologies.

The MPD Pharmaceutical program will provide the additional education and hands-on training that science majors need to secure jobs in the pharmaceutical product development industries; accordingly classes are taught in an applied manner.

You’ll apprentice with industry partners and learn in state-of-the-art analytical and pilot-scale labs (like the new hybrid classroom/cGMP lab on the Innovation Campus). The Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science is the first step in pursuing your career in occupational or physical therapy. You’ll benefit from a broad-based education that meets the prerequisites for entering our Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). For those of you who already have a particular area interest, you can start early! During your undergraduate studies, you can select elective courses focusing on pediatrics or gerontology.
You are at the beginning of your university education! That is pretty exciting. Are you planning even further ahead for future graduate studies? Yes? This program is going to get you ready for a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). By starting here, you get the skills and knowledge that will serve you later on. Not quite sure if graduate school is for you, but you’d like options? Rehabilitation science is useful in and of itself. It is broad enough to be applicable in plenty of medical and health careers, while focusing on healing and strengthening the human body. We’ll give you a foundation that you can build on whichever way you choose.

In order to provide efficient, quality learning, you can apply for CUW’s MOT program during your sophomore year, and begin the graduate coursework your junior year. What does that ultimately mean for you? By combining the two programs, you will graduate with a bachelor and master’s in 4 ½ years! Opting for the bachelor alone means you’ll be finished in 3 ½ years. Our faculty and staff will help you choose the path that best suits your individual goals and needs.

In addition, there is an accelerated DPT admission option for qualified students. This option allows students to complete the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 6 rather than 7 years. The option is open to students who matriculate as freshman and take all their science prerequisite coursework at Concordia University. If you decide to pursue admission through the accelerated process you will receive a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science following completion of your fourth year of academic study at Concordia University.

More and more, actuaries use data analytics to help assess risk and inform policy. Concordia's new Actuarial & Data Sciences major meets the market's demands by preparing students with current, relevant knowledge and skills in both actuarial science and data analytics.

Actuarial science is an intense field, and will require a sharp, analytical mind, coupled with hard work and dedication to pass the certification exams and practice as an actuary. But it is a rewarding field, and in high demand. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay is over $110K, and the demand for actuaries is expected to increase 24% by 2030.

Actuaries assess risk to help make wise decisions for their organizations. Most actuaries work in insurance, but they can also work in finance, healthcare administration, wealth management, and any other industry where predictions and decisions must be made to mitigate risk.

Like all industries, the actuarial science profession is constantly changing to adapt to new technologies. With the computing capabilities that we now have, actuaries are increasingly dependent on data science and analytics. In 2021, the Society of Actuaries announced a change in their Associate of the SOA (ASA) education requirements, including an updated curriculum designed to meet employer and market demands for increased coverage of data analytics.

Concordia's new actuarial and data sciences major couples proven actuarial science methodologies with cutting edge data science technologies to thoroughly prepare tomorrow's actuaries with the skills needed to assess risk in the modern world.

Science aims to understand the incredible intricacies of God's creation. It all starts with a question, which leads to research, forming a hypothesis, testing the hypothesis, and analyzing and communicating the results, which often leads to new questions. This scientific inquiry is what leads to theories and laws that observe and describe the world around us.

In this program, you'll study everything that exists in the earth's environment, from the plants and animals to ecosystems and climate patterns, and how they all correlate. Two concentrations are available; ecology and environmental chemistry. Both tracks take a deep dive into a wide variety of scientific disciplines, with each specialization putting an extra emphasis on ecology or environmental chemistry respectively.

The environmental science major explores the physical, chemical, and biological properties and processes of our world. The program seeks to help students grow in the following six areas:

• Knowledge base: demonstrate an understanding of and an ability to explain major biological and related scientific concepts.
• Laboratory procedures: demonstrate the ability to appropriately collect and analyze data while utilizing laboratory equipment and procedures safely and effectively
• Scientific inquiry: develop investigative and critical thinking skills to explore complex questions and solve challenging scientific problems
• Scientific communication: demonstrate the ability to communicate scientific information effectively to both scientists and non-scientists using oral and written forms of expression
• Vocation and ethics: recognize how vocations in science provide opportunities for service to Christ and others and necessitate ethical behavior in all aspects of science
• God’s design and stewardship: demonstrate an understanding of how/why a Christian sees evidence of God’s design in nature and how to be good stewards of His creation

You’ll find evidence of our global economy in the stuff you use every day – the stuff that adds quality to your life: your phone, your computer, your car, even the clothes on your back. The truth is, much of it was built in a foreign country and imported before it went up for sale here at home. A bachelor’s in international business will help you understand the complexity of international business operations. The program combines liberal arts and general business courses with foreign language and communication studies, and a semester abroad to set you on the path to become a qualified manager with an international perspective. You’ll learn how business is conducted both in and between different nations, while studying the effects financial systems, government policies, and cultural differences have on the global economy. You’ll understand how different IT tools help people communicate, manage data, and solve problems. You’ll dip into marketing, risk management, and insurance. You have two paths to choose from when pursuing a degree in English at CUW. This program can be a standalone liberal arts degree, or a complementary major for those of you seeking a degree in secondary education. Both routes will allow you to explore the language, literature, and expression of the Western canon. In order to demonstrate your understanding of texts and ideas, you’ll be regularly asked to write analytically and creatively. Professors will motivate you to think critically about texts and consider them within a Christian context, applying their lessons to your day to day life.

Courses center around comprehending, expressing, and analyzing ideas (both others’ and your own), so the content is going to get deep. Get ready to read a wide range of authors, and be prepared to speak up and engage in high-level academic discourse with faculty and fellow students. You will continually be learning to better express yourself by studying how others have communicated their thoughts.

In this program, we hold the following to be an unequivocal truth: we’re all created by God. When you’re an individual undergoing treatment in a healthcare facility – whether it’s acute, community, or long-term – it means you should be treated with utmost care and dignity. That’s your role as a healthcare administrator. To help uphold the dignity of each of your patients. It will also teach you how to be an effective healthcare administrator, how to evaluate research results applicable to a healthcare practice, and how to demonstrate effective communication – in writing and presentations.
There are so many intricacies to working in the field of healthcare. This program focuses primarily on working with others in the field of healthcare. It all starts with your ability to recognize every individual as a holistic being created by God – someone whose dignity, worth, and rights deserve to be respected and upheld.

This program will help you grow adept at analyzing different healthcare systems. You’ll grow an ability to synthesize knowledge from the sciences, humanities, and management theories as a basis for problem-solving and decision-making. You will be expected to display a willingness to work cohesively and communicate with members of the interdisciplinary healthcare network.

This program will equip you with the ability to evaluate research results that are applicable to your healthcare practice, and teach you how to create a reflective self plan for personal and professional growth. You’ll discover an ability to recognize and analyze current trends and issues related to healthcare management, which will help you grow throughout your career. And you’ll earn respect for diversity within the healthcare community – for both those who are served and the providers of care.

The parish music program consists of the standard music major with additional classes in church music. Learn from practicing church musicians and enjoy the opportunity to participate in handbell choirs, vocal choirs, orchestra, band, and organ performances. Learn to lead the congregation in song, direct choirs and instrumental groups, choose theologically sound music, and work with a pastor to structure music in worship. Because of CUW’s location, you have access to rich variety of musical events in the Milwaukee area. If you are a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, you can take additional theology classes to be placed on the church worker roster for the LCMS.

Plan on dedicating significant energy to practicing piano or organ. Regardless of your current skill level, we have experienced tutors available to help improve your technique in a one-on-one setting. General music elements of this program include composing and arranging, music history and theory, aural skills, choral and organ literature, and conducting. You’ll also focus on how music connects with the theological aspects of worship.
