The Photography Department offers exceptional instruction in beginning, intermediate, and advanced photography.  The department maintains a fully operating wet darkroom and professionally equipped digital labs.  Visual communication and principles of image control and craft are essential components of all the photography classes.  Students develop the technical, critical and practical skills required to succeed in this constantly challenging and changing medium.  The photography department has one of the best-equipped and largest facilities in the Bay Area.  Students are given the opportunity to apply new skills to real and simulated situations found in photographic careers.
 
Photography students produce technically and aesthetically accomplished imagery.  Students have graduated De Anza to enter careers in advertising, editorial work, photo illustration, fashion, architecture, and product photography.  Fine art and documentary photography are integral parts of the program.

The Film/TV: Screenwriting A.A. degree provides a foundation for students interested in pursuing a career in screenwriting for film or pursuing a baccalaureate degree in Film/ Television. Students are exposed to the craft and business of screenwriting. In order to fulfill the major requirements, students take each course in the screenwriting series, courses in cinema studies and media theory, and basic production courses.

We live in the age of the image, in a world of large and small screens. The Film/TV Department provides students with the critical skills to analyze media and the practical skills to create compelling content for spectators and screens of all sizes.

Integrating theory and practice, the Film/TV program at De Anza includes a comprehensive curriculum in Media Studies, Screenwriting, Film and Television Production, and Animation. We prepare you to transfer to a four-year university or to enter the workforce. 

The CNC Machinist Certificate of A.S. degree teaches students the fundamentals of CNC machine tools. Students learn safe set-up, editing and operation of CNC equipment, including vertical and horizontal mills, lathes and rotary multi-axis components. Students are taught to dimension and inspect parts using various inspection methods, and to analyze materials and processes used in manufacturing. Upon completion, students are prepared for employment in manufacturing facilities as CNC set-up persons and machine operators.

The Business Programming A.A. degree program creates a programming savvy entrepreneur who can make decisions about finances and technology, and who understands how to run an enterprise from both the technology and business perspectives. This program teaches skills combined from business and programming that enable a more in-depth view into the technology necessary to run a business in the 21st century.

De Anza's Computer Information Systems (CIS) department has been a leading educational institution in Silicon Valley since the college was founded. Over the years it has developed a rich and diverse series of courses in many areas. Our courses meet the needs of both the transfer student and the industry professional. Students who take courses and earn degrees in the CIS department often go on to transfer to four-year universities in majors such as Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science and many other majors that required CIS courses.

Students pursuing an A.A. degree in Marketing Management prepare for a wide variety of marketing-related careers such as marketing events coordinator, retail sales manager, marketing communications associate, inside sales representative, sales specialist/coordinator, and sales support specialist. students learn the fundamentals of general business administration with an emphasis on marketing, advertising, selling, international business and management.

The A.A. degree in Corrections/Probation provides the foundational education required for an individual's career entry into the criminal justice field, specifically correctional operations and probation/parole case investigations. The courses range from concepts of criminal law, evidence, investigation and reporting to criminology, aspects of social change, and corrections investigations.

The program has a proud history: It has been offered at the college since De Anza was established in 1967. Today, our classes cover the latest advancements in methodology and technology.

Our instructors have extensive professional experience as judges, police officers, correction and probation officers as well as attorneys. Our graduates are working for public and private agencies throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

The Film/TV: Animation A.A. degree provides a foundation for students interested in pursuing a career in the film, TV, game or Internet animation industries. Students are exposed to professional pre-production and production animation methods including storyboard design, character design, 2-D hand drawn, 2-D digital animation, 3-D stop-motion and 3-D computer animation. Students select electives that will help build skills for such specific career goals as 2-D and 3-D animators, illustrators, storyboard artists, visual development artists and background artists.

Students in the Certificate of Achievement-Advanced and A.S. degree are taught the fundamentals of Product Model Making. Students learn the safe set-up of CNC equipment, how to design and construct three-dimensional objects using CAD/CAM software, and how to analyze materials and processes used in prototype model making. Upon completion, students are prepared for employment working in design-stage product development, and prototype and model making environments.
