Welcome to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry! We invite you to take a virtual tour of our department and learn about the opportunities we have to offer our students. The size of our department is small enough to allow our undergraduate and graduate students to have a personalized experience, but at the same time we offer access to top-notch research opportunities and modern instrumentation typically available at larger universities.

Marketing is a specialization in business concerned with developing strategies and tactics to create value for customers. Marketing can involve many facets of business—everything from the conception and design of the product or service, to pricing, promotion and distribution.

At Duquesne, you will begin the marketing major by taking a three-course core curriculum, which includes sales fundamentals, buyer behavior and marketing research. You can then concentrate in one of three areas: Sports Marketing, Professional Selling & Marketing or Digital Marketing & Analytics.

Combine your applied music study with hands-on experience in multimedia labs and recording studios. Pursuing the Bachelor of Music in Music Technology will connect you to the cutting-edge of a creative industry that is seeking composers and engineers for broadcast, film, gaming, ministry, medicine, recording studios, sound stages, television, and virtual reality platforms.

Program emphasis on developing research skills and conducting research critical to preparing students for master's degrees in social work, public policy, administration of justice, and public administration and opportunities to participate in faculty research,including an on-going study of black women's maternal health in Pittsburgh neighborhoods and another study of how organisations that advocate for low-income tenants can work with landlords to secure affordable housing.

Biomedical engineering (BME), like any branch of engineering, uses scientific and mathematical principles to solve relevant problems facing the world. BME is focused on improving human health and encompasses many distinct areas such as:

• Biomedical optics
• Biomaterials
• Orthopedic biomechanics
• Biophysical interactions
• Drug delivery
• Biosensor development

Additionally, the Department offers a selection of courses for non-science majors carefully designed to meet University Core science requirements, in a range of topics from the traditional to the fun-filled and even the exotic.

Our faculty are dedicated teacher-scholars who enjoy helping students experience the thrill of learning about nature first-hand. The Department pursues a vigorous research program in experimental condensed matter, experimental atomic physics and experimental nuclear physics, all areas open to undergraduate involvement.

Duquesne University's new Master of Arts in English, Literature and Writing track, provides you with the best of both worlds: the literature classes of a traditional M.A. in English combined with engagement with a variety of forms of writing across different media and disciplines. Learn how your critical thinking and writing abilities can translate to a variety of contexts-from magazine writing to digital media to grant writing and beyond. With our flexible, interdisciplinary program, you can develop your writing skills in directions that interest and fulfill you!

In this program, you will:

Entegrated Marketing Communication (IMC) is a strategic communication discipline that draws together advertising, public relations, and marketing. Students can develop competencies in advertising, public relations, event planning, emerging communication technologies, community relations, visual communication, and branding. Integrated Marketing Communication majors pursue careers in advertising and public relations agencies, consulting firms, and positions requiring strategic communication planning and strategy.

Accounting isn't just about money; it also involves data analysis, strategic thinking and forecasting. Ethical practice is also integral to a company's reputation management, and central to our accounting major. Whether it's in big business or small business, non-profit or government, accounting is a core operation, and well-trained students are sought after.

Students who choose accounting at the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business aren't looking for any accounting program; they want the best. You will learn more than just the technical aspects of accounting; you will become a better critical thinker, communicator, and problem solver.

You will have access to a library of the latest versions of accounting software.  Proficiency in these tools will enhance your success - both as a student and as a professional - and increase your marketability.

Liberal Arts students may design a Liberal Arts major if they prefer not to choose a formal major course of study offered in a traditional discipline. A self-designed major allows for the election of a concentration in either the humanities or social sciences, or it may be built around a theme that brings together courses in both the humanities and social sciences.
