Accredited? We are pursuing accreditation through the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission for the Mechanical Engineering major like we have already achieved for our other engineering majors.

This major leads to a bachelor of science degree.

The degree requirements are identical to the General Engineering/Mechanical Engineering concentration.

To prepare interior design students to succeed, the courses in the Interior Design major encompass knowledge and skills in such areas as elements and principles of design, space planning, architectural drafting by hand and computer, art and design history, universal design (design for a range of ages and abilities), interior finishes and materials, and sustainable, resilient design.

As part of a program within a university committed to changing the world, the interior design faculty place strong emphasis on areas of universal and environmentally responsible design, incorporating their principles into projects in multiple courses.

The Physics Department at Seattle Pacific University seeks to prepare students to use the history and ideas of physics and their analytical, computational, and research skills to engage the culture, the Creation, their minds, and the minds of others.

Physics studies the changes, interactions, and properties of matter and energy and, as a result, strongly influences humankind’s understanding of nature. In addition, as engineers create new technology based on the principles first discovered by physicists, the social economics and political structures of society change.

The SPU physics curriculum provides you with the practice and analytical tools necessary to solve complex problems. From introductory courses where you work with faculty to build your own understanding through inquiry-based activities to advanced independent research projects, as a physics student you’ll learn through active engagement and hands-on experience.

At graduation, as a physics student, you are prepared to apply your skills to research, design, or consulting in physics and physics-related fields. In addition, you will possess critical and creative problem-solving skills that can be utilized in vocations far removed from the discipline of physics.

 A bachelor of arts degree in Biology from SPU provides a broad foundation if you want to combine another area of study — such as education, environmental studies, law, or science writing — with a solid scientific background.

Biology Major
As a Bachelor of Arts in Biology major, you can expect to study a wide array of scientific subjects — from the inheritance of traits and evolutionary mechanisms to animal physiology and plant identification — all within a framework of ethics, vocation, and faith.

The Master of Arts in Theology degree program focuses on the classical theological disciplines of Scripture, Church history, theology, and ethics. The Christian Ministry concentration is designed for students who have a personal interest in theological study, are engaged in congregational or parachurch ministries, or are considering further advanced academic study in theology. The Christian Ministry concentration is a highly malleable, self-designed degree.

f you are preparing for leadership in a church or denomination — including various non-ordained ministries in congregational settings, parachurches, and Christian organizations that do not require a Master of Divinity degree — the Christian Ministry concentration is intended for you.

Who designs the bridge between hardware and software? Computer engineers! Graduates of this program go on to analyze and design computers, peripheral devices, or embedded systems such as those found in today’s smart appliances and transportation.

Armed with a solid foundation in math, physics, computer science, and electronics, in this program you’ll choose from a wide range of specialized electives, from software engineering and networks, to systems design or even alternative energy.

If you’re preparing for a future in teaching, medicine, law, or the ministry — or if you seek personal enrichment — you’ll want to consider a major or minor in Classics.

Whether you major, minor, or take courses as part of your electives, studying the Classics at Seattle Pacific University allows you to develop the analytical skills needed to understand ancient languages and engage in disciplines such as linguistics or textual criticism. You will also discover how Classics can add depth to disciplines such as history, philosophy, and art criticism.

With half the words in English vocabulary made up of Latin or Greek words and roots, majoring or minoring in Classics, or minoring in Latin, gives you a great preparation for any of the liberal arts. And because Latin provides the root words for science vocabularies, you will also understand science and math terminology in a new way — as well as gain personal satisfaction.

A bachelor of science degree in Biology prepares you for graduate studies or a professional career in biology. SPU’s Biology program emphasizes undergraduate research, which will give you a competitive edge. You may choose core and elective courses focused on botany, cellular and molecular biology, ecology, marine biology, physiology, or zoology, depending upon your interests and professional goals.
