Sports and Exercise Emphasis
The Nutrition in Sports and Exercise emphasis provides you with a broad background in food and nutritional sciences, along with further study of exercise science and the specialized nutritional requirements for physically active individuals.

The Christians Traditions concentration of the MA-THEO Degree is designed to expand your knowledge of the Church’s global heritage from the era of the New Testament to the present. Clothing needs are influenced by all aspects of society, and Apparel Design and Apparel Merchandising graduates must understand the social, ethical, cultural, economic, and political factors that influence clothing selection.

For this reason, the Apparel Design and Merchandising specialization has a strong interdisciplinary base integrating knowledge from arts, psychology, sociology, economics, business, history, physics, and chemistry. The liberal education provided by this program empowers you to think critically and to gain a sense of your intellectual and creative abilities — qualities highly coveted by employers.

If you’re preparing for a future in teaching, medicine, law, or the ministry — or if you seek personal enrichment — you’ll want to consider a major or minor in Classics.

Whether you major, minor, or take courses as part of your electives, studying the Classics at Seattle Pacific University allows you to develop the analytical skills needed to understand ancient languages and engage in disciplines such as linguistics or textual criticism. You will also discover how Classics can add depth to disciplines such as history, philosophy, and art criticism.

With half the words in English vocabulary made up of Latin or Greek words and roots, majoring or minoring in Classics, or minoring in Latin, gives you a great preparation for any of the liberal arts. And because Latin provides the root words for science vocabularies, you will also understand science and math terminology in a new way — as well as gain personal satisfaction.

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Psychology majors are rigorous yet flexible programs designed to meet the American Psychological Association Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology major while also fulfilling SPU’s mission to provide students with a transformative and holistic experience grounded in Christian faith.

As such, these programs prepare you with extensive knowledge of the field; scientific and critical thinking skills; an awareness of diversity, ethics in practice, and social responsibility; effective oral and written communication skills; and professional-level training and experiences (e.g., research and internship opportunities) for both careers and graduate school in psychology.

Psychology (BA)

The BA in Psychology is designed for students with a broad range of career and graduate school interests such as, but not limited to, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, school counseling, and industrial and organizational psychology.

Sports Psychology: For students interested in working with athletes or teams, this track focuses on sports psychology; it is designed for students hoping to pursue a job or graduate work in a related area.

The Business Administration major at SPU provides a well-rounded foundation for business. It is a broad-based program in the fundamental theories, principles, and practices of modern business. This program has attained AACSB accreditation, which is the highest level of international certification for business schools.

Deeply grounded in Christian faith and values, we believe that the purpose of business is to serve and to advance human flourishing. The Business Administration major teaches standards of professional and ethical behaviors, and develops the leadership attributes necessary for success.

As part of the Business Administration major, students also gain vital industry experience by participating in our SBGE internship program. Our students have held internships at leading local businesses and companies such as Starbucks, Boeing, Microsoft, the Seattle Mariners, and Merrill Lynch.

An Economics concentration will help prepare you for a career in analyzing public policy or forecasting economic conditions.

The interdisciplinary Politics, Philosophy, & Economics (PPE) major is a unique program which prepares students for leadership in many areas of public service and private enterprise.

About the Politics, Philosophy, & Economics (PPE) Major

PPE is a rigorous, interdisciplinary program that combines studies in political science, philosophy, and economics.  Modeled after a program at Oxford University, PPE core classes study human values, cultural institutions, and economics in order to develop multiperspectival solutions to pressing social problems. PPE students will also choose an area of emphasis from the following tracks: Applied Economics, Financial Economics, International Affairs, Law, Philosophy, Public Administration, and Social Enterprise.

The Law track will prepare you for success in law school and a variety of careers in law and society.

The Accounting major in SPU's School of Business, Government, and Economics is designed to prepare you for a wide range of professional challenges and equip you with the necessary tools to succeed in a variety of key positions throughout the business world.

ACCOUNTING MAJOR
As an Accounting student at Seattle Pacific University, you will begin to master specialized areas such as financial, managerial, and international accounting. 

You will learn about taxation, auditing, budgets, profit-and-loss statements, and information systems alongside many other topics. Our program offers an added dimension of integrity and ethics grounded in Christian faith and values, setting our graduates apart. 

The Integrated Studies major enables you to develop a breadth of knowledge across six content areas you will teach in elementary school: the arts, health and fitness, language arts, mathematics, natural sciences, and social sciences. These are the six content disciplines of Washington state’s Endorsement Competencies for Elementary Education K–8.

If you want to be certified with an endorsement in Elementary Education, you will complete the requirements for (1) a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies and (2) the Residency Teacher Certification Program in the School of Education. As a student in the Economics major in the School of Business, Government, and Economics at SPU, you will study many vital issues that affect human flourishing while emphasizing a Christian perspective on individual and society's decisions about how to organize the production and distribution of goods and services.

About the Economics Major

Economics is the study of human decision making, interconnectedness, and the distribution and allocation of scarce resources. This major emphasizes development and financial economics, with a focus on decision making, resource stewardship, and public policy.

Our program prepares students with industry experience through our SBGE internship program. Our students have held internships at leading local businesses and industries such as Safeco, Morgan Stanley, Starbucks, and Nordstrom.

Students pursuing graduate study are encouraged to complete our 15 credit calculus series. Our graduates have gone on to study at top institutions such as Notre Dame, Baylor, and the University of Washington.

Pursuing the Financial Economics concentration will allow you to focus on issues such as financial accounting, business finance, and investments.
