The BS in Information Systems is designed to provide you with a strong foundation in both the technical and organizational aspects of information systems. Graduates are well-prepared to help both for-profit and nonprofit organizations define and achieve their technology goals.

The program focuses on the development of tactile skills including drawing, painting, printmaking, metallurgy, and sculpture. The goal of the this track is to graduate properly trained, competent artists educated in traditional and contemporary media, grounded by historical and cultural knowledge, and instilled with a desire to explore the spiritual nature of art as an expression of faith.

The goal of the Photography/Digital Media program is to graduate competent lens-based artists with a broad range of media skills. You will be prepared for advanced study in studio art or film and learn tools for building an entrepreneurial photographic practice or another career trajectory.

The BS in Mathematics is designed to prepare you for graduate work or a professional career in mathematics.

If you enjoy numbers, problem-solving and analyzing data, mathematics is a major for you. You can become a financial analyst evaluating economic conditions to help a corporation make smart business decisions, or an actuary using data to predict health trends for an insurance company. Mathematicians work with chemical engineers to develop mathematical models that further research and development of products, and applied mathematicians collaborate with industrial designers to create the best aerodynamic conditions when designing airplanes, structures or cars.

A Bachelor of Art in Art will provide students with an opportunity to express themselves using a variety of creative disciplines and methods within the visual arts and prepare them for such fields as museum studies, gallery management, curator, teaching, studio artist, graphic design, product design, art therapy, graduated studies in a variety of related fields, fashion, and marketing.

The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Psychology majors are rigorous yet flexible programs designed to meet the American Psychological Association Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology major while also fulfilling SPU’s mission to provide students with a transformative and holistic experience grounded in Christian faith.

As such, these programs prepare you with extensive knowledge of the field; scientific and critical thinking skills; an awareness of diversity, ethics in practice, and social responsibility; effective oral and written communication skills; and professional-level training and experiences (e.g., research and internship opportunities) for both careers and graduate school in psychology.

Psychology (BA)

The BA in Psychology is designed for students with a broad range of career and graduate school interests such as, but not limited to, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, social work, school counseling, and industrial and organizational psychology.

Sports Psychology: For students interested in working with athletes or teams, this track focuses on sports psychology; it is designed for students hoping to pursue a job or graduate work in a related area.

A bachelor of science degree in Biology prepares you for graduate studies or a professional career in biology. SPU’s Biology program emphasizes undergraduate research, which will give you a competitive edge. You may choose core and elective courses focused on botany, cellular and molecular biology, ecology, marine biology, physiology, or zoology, depending upon your interests and professional goals.

Biology Major
As a Bachelor of Science in Biology major, you’ll focus on understanding humans, animals, and plants from a biological perspective. You’ll gain a solid foundation in research methodology while increasing your knowledge of the physiology, anthropology, and development of the life all around us.

Sixty percent of the world’s population lives in Asia, while millions more Asians live in other parts of the world. Asia is also home to the world’s oldest modern civilizations, as well as some of its richest cultures and most dynamic societies.

From our location in Seattle on the Pacific Rim, students and faculty at SPU learn about and encounter Asia, because this is central to our mission of understanding and engaging our multicultural and complex world.

Pursuing Asian Studies as a major or minor will deepen your understanding of, and commitment to, global and cultural engagement, reconciliation, and human flourishing. In this major, your interdisciplinary coursework and diverse educational experiences will prepare you for service or further study in:

If you are interested in preparing for ordained ministry and for general pastoral leadership responsibilities in churches as well as parachurch, mission, and other settings, then the Master of Divinity degree program is for you. It is also the recommended first theological degree for admission to doctoral programs oriented to theological research and teaching.

The Business Administration major at SPU provides a well-rounded foundation for business. It is a broad-based program in the fundamental theories, principles, and practices of modern business. This program has attained AACSB accreditation, which is the highest level of international certification for business schools.

Deeply grounded in Christian faith and values, we believe that the purpose of business is to serve and to advance human flourishing. The Business Administration major teaches standards of professional and ethical behaviors, and develops the leadership attributes necessary for success.

As part of the Business Administration major, students also gain vital industry experience by participating in our SBGE internship program. Our students have held internships at leading local businesses and companies such as Starbucks, Boeing, Microsoft, the Seattle Mariners, and Merrill Lynch.

A Finance concentration teaches you how to develop budgets for capital projects or work in the financial markets.
