The BA in Mathematics is designed to provide you with a good general background in mathematics.  As a mathematics major, you will learn analytical skills that can be used in a wide variety of fields.

The Master of Arts in Theology degree program focuses on the classical theological disciplines of Scripture, Church history, theology, and ethics. The Christian Ministry concentration is designed for students who have a personal interest in theological study, are engaged in congregational or parachurch ministries, or are considering further advanced academic study in theology. The Christian Ministry concentration is a highly malleable, self-designed degree.

f you are preparing for leadership in a church or denomination — including various non-ordained ministries in congregational settings, parachurches, and Christian organizations that do not require a Master of Divinity degree — the Christian Ministry concentration is intended for you.

Who designs the bridge between hardware and software? Computer engineers! Graduates of this program go on to analyze and design computers, peripheral devices, or embedded systems such as those found in today’s smart appliances and transportation.

Armed with a solid foundation in math, physics, computer science, and electronics, in this program you’ll choose from a wide range of specialized electives, from software engineering and networks, to systems design or even alternative energy.

The program focuses on the exploration of creative solutions in communication using digital media processes, typography, form development, and information design with print, motion, UI/UX, and time–based media.

Through the Visual Communication program, you will become a thoroughly trained, competent designer educated in traditional and contemporary media and grounded by historical and cultural knowledge.

Both the master’s and doctoral programs are designed with a focus on the science and rigor associated with quality degrees in this field along with an equal emphasis on the practice of industrial-organizational psychology.

The Master of Arts in Theology degree program focuses on the classical theological disciplines of Scripture, church history, theology, and ethics, and reflects Seattle Pacific University’s vision to engage the culture and change the world with the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ. The Theological Integration concentration combines rigorous study in the classical theological disciplines with an interdisciplinary focus. You will be prepared to serve in diverse settings and equipped to live a more integrated life of faith and mission as an administrator, manager, or marketplace or Christian organization professional.

Today’s Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) educators instruct and train students for life management and to work in a wide variety of fields. They teach early childhood development, food production and hospitality management, and apparel and interior design. They often teach courses in high demand by area employers, who may provide input into the curriculum and offer internships to students.

At SPU, teacher certification in Family and Consumer Science Education is offered at the secondary level. SPU is an approved institution for vocational (career and technical education) certification of family and consumer science teachers in middle, junior, and high school family and consumer science programs.

Secondary school teachers’ responsibilities are often more varied than at the elementary school level. FCS teachers may teach course content using child development laboratories, food preparation kitchens, or computer simulations. Student groups complete exercises that require them to apply knowledge, interact with others, adapt to new technology, and logically think through problems.

The Communication Studies track of the Communication major provides you with opportunities to develop your communication skills, explore your values, and acquire techniques of insight and critical reasoning.

A bachelor of science degree in Biology prepares you for graduate studies or a professional career in biology. SPU’s Biology program emphasizes undergraduate research, which will give you a competitive edge. You may choose core and elective courses focused on botany, cellular and molecular biology, ecology, marine biology, physiology, or zoology, depending upon your interests and professional goals.

Biology Major
As a Bachelor of Science in Biology major, you’ll focus on understanding humans, animals, and plants from a biological perspective. You’ll gain a solid foundation in research methodology while increasing your knowledge of the physiology, anthropology, and development of the life all around us.

If you’re preparing for a future in teaching, medicine, law, or the ministry — or if you seek personal enrichment — you’ll want to consider a major or minor in Classics.

Whether you major, minor, or take courses as part of your electives, studying the Classics at Seattle Pacific University allows you to develop the analytical skills needed to understand ancient languages and engage in disciplines such as linguistics or textual criticism. You will also discover how Classics can add depth to disciplines such as history, philosophy, and art criticism.

With half the words in English vocabulary made up of Latin or Greek words and roots, majoring or minoring in Classics, or minoring in Latin, gives you a great preparation for any of the liberal arts. And because Latin provides the root words for science vocabularies, you will also understand science and math terminology in a new way — as well as gain personal satisfaction.
