The physics master’s program prepares physics and applied physics students for an academic career path and the pursuit of a Ph.D. in physics, as well as a research-based career in industry.

Physics students will build upon core concepts introduced within a physics undergraduate degree program, studying the fundamental branches of physics while simultaneously developing advanced mathematical and problem-solving skills. The program aims to establish general expertise in physics while also promoting critical thinking skills for multidisciplinary applications.

While many physics graduates go on to obtain a Ph.D., many others also work within research roles in sectors and industries as varied as their interests–defense, aerospace, government, education, healthcare, energy, materials, technology, computing and IT.

A master's in software engineering centers on building reliable, responsive, safe and secure software systems that propel industry and society forward in an increasingly interconnected world. In our software engineering program, you'll learn about the life cycle process and how to build sustainable products. You'll also acquire the skill sets necessary to design, build, test, and maintain software systems, and to manage software projects with optimal efficiency.

The School of Systems & Enterprises' (SSE's) software engineering students come from varied backgrounds — computer science, general science, mathematics, engineering, business and liberal arts — to develop the intellectual toolkit necessary to become architects and project leaders who can build the software-intensive systems of the future. The master's in software engineering program equips students with advanced knowledge in software architecture, project management, technical planning, risk management and software assurance – areas that are essential in implementing and overseeing software-intensive projects of high technical complexity.

and cell/tissue-based physiological platforms, composites and structured materials, computational and experimental fluid

dynamics and heat transfer, computer-aided design and manufacturing, integrated product and process design, control

theory, design of thermal systems, knowledge-based engineering systems, noise control and vibration, robotics and
