Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

The School of Public Affairs’ Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice (BACJ) program is designed for students who are interested in studying the American criminal justice system. Coursework in the major includes the complex nature of crime causation; the history, framework, and operations of criminal justice organizations; the implications of public policies related to crime and justice; and special topics such as capital punishment, victimology, race and crime, and community corrections.
Students completing the Victims and Victim Services concentration will have the knowledge and skills to evaluate, manage, and respond to a variety of situations and issues that professionals in fields related to victims and victim services face. Specifically, they will possess technical, analytic, substantive, and ethical proficiencies that will facilitate their professional interactions and development. They will understand the different environments and contexts in which victim advocates and other professionals in this and related fields carry out their responsibilities.

The Department of Film & Television offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Film and Television. This BFA emphasis provides intensive and practical training that requires successful completion of numerous film/TV projects, varying in styles from fiction to documentary. The emphasis is designed so that students will progress through the semesters as a cohort group. Undergraduates will not only work on their own projects but also will assist on numerous group projects.
