This degree program is designed to prepare students for scientific careers or graduate study in geology and/or environmental science. The curriculum includes a comprehensive geology core that qualifies graduates to apply for licensure as a professional environmental geologist through ASBOG (Association of State Boards of Geology).  Students will acquire field, laboratory, and computer skills necessary for long-term employment in the environmental, engineering, geospatial, energy, and geologic workforce.

Geoscience is the study of the Earth, including its resources, fresh water, oceans, and atmosphere. As outlined by the American Geosciences Institute, geoscientists explore, study, and monitor the Earth to protect it and the people who live on it. They seek solutions to some of our most challenging problems:

• Finding adequate supplies of natural resources such as geothermal energy, fossil fuels, minerals, and water
• Developing natural resources in ways that safeguard the environment
• Maintaining the quality and sustainability of groundwater and surface water supplies
• Reducing human loss and suffering from natural hazards and disasters, such as floods and landslides
• Determining geologic controls on natural environments and habitats, and predicting the impact of humans
• Understanding global climate patterns and the history of global change through geologic time
• Understanding how naturally occurring elements and minerals behave in nature and how they affect our health
• Advising policy makers on scientific and environmental issues that affect society

The Sociology - Criminology Emphasis program offers students seeking careers in criminology or criminal justice a broad liberal arts education that encourages them to think critically about crime and justice issues and prepares them for careers in the criminal justice systems or preparation for a graduate degree program.

Accounting
The mission of the accounting emphasis is to equip students with relevant, foundational knowledge of business and accounting while fostering growth of critical thinking skills necessary for future professionals and academic success.
The emphasis in Accounting focuses on preparing students to understand "the language of business." Our students are employed by top CPA firms in WV & throughout the country.  They work in the area of audit, fraud detection, payroll reporting, financial reporting to the government & shareholders as well as bookkeeping, cost accounting, & taxation.

The Department of Health Sciences also offers an undergraduate baccalaureate degree in Health Sciences.  For the BS in Health Sciences students may choose an area of study in one of four tracks: Pre Physical Therapy, Pre Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Pre Professional studies.  We encourage students to select an area of emphasis that most closely aligns with their professional, academic, and career goals.

Pre-Physical Therapy
The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences—Pre-Physical Therapy degree prepares students for entry into Physical Therapy School. Students are presented with the classroom knowledge, hands-on skills, and practical experiences to assist them in achieving satisfying careers and making positive contributions to their profession and communities.

Courses in Political Science are designed to stimulate in students a greater awareness and understanding of political institutions, processes, relationships, and their underlying principles. One goal of these courses is to generate the requisite interest and skilled civic participation that are so crucial to the maintenance of a just, responsible and democratic society. In addition, the program is designed to prepare students for graduate study and law school.

Students seeking the Bachelor of Arts degree may earn a major or a minor in political science. Note the required grade average in the Department of Social Sciences.

The newly updated major in Multimedia Production was designed with today's job market in mind. Students will be trained to capture and edit excellent video and audio content, while also having skills in promotion, web design, social media messaging, and Associated Press style writing. All of these areas are pivotal to success in today's digital world.

With hands on courses like Social Media Production, Video/Audio Field Production, Graphic Design, and Digital Presenting, students will use their strong base of theoretical communication and industry standard equipment in Concord's contemporary digital TV and Radio studios to create multidimensional projects that can be used on campus, as well as to build impressive resume material.

The Interdisciplinary Studies degree gives students the opportunity to design a course of study that includes music as an important component of their career or professional goals. This degree can lead to fulfilling careers in fields such as independent music teaching, arts management, music theatre, and music entrepreneurship. In addition to studies in music, students choose one or more complementary academic disciplines to fulfill their career goals including pre-approved tracks in theatre, public relations, and business administration. Students also have the option to work with a faculty member to design additional areas of study.

Marketing
Marketing is a career-oriented emphasis that provides a professional education as a Bachelor of Science.  Students will become well-informed in advertising, promotion, sales, consumer behavior, public relations, marketing strategy, research, and in delivering value to customers. The mission of our marketing emphasis is to foster successful marketing professionals who provide outstanding value to their customers, employers, and communities.   

Marketing careers attract driven individuals from the creative to the analytical. The marketing emphasis provides a curriculum that will challenge you to develop & learn the expertise essential to work in nearly any industry today with a focus heavily on customer satisfaction. The emphasis in marketing focuses on preparing students for careers such as Brand, Product, Sales, Marketing, Advertising, Social Media, or PR Managers, as well as Research Analyst/Director, Media Director, Entrepreneur/Small Business Owner, or CRM Specialist.

Computer Scientists commonly do three things: design and implement software, devise new ways to use computers, and develop effective ways to solve computing problems. They seek to understand why technology works, and apply that knowledge in practical ways.
 
Concord’s curriculum is designed to give students a thorough understanding of computers; the physics of the hardware, the underlying mathematical principles; and the creation of software solutions. The curriculum’s design is guided by recommendations from the Association of Computing Machinery and the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The core prepares students for a wide variety of careers and graduate school, but students can also choose one of three concentrations in which to specialize:

• Software Development - Designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in software development or software engineering. Students in this concentration will learn to develop user-focused software solutions for a variety of different platforms.
• Cybersecurity - Designed for students interested in pursuing careers in computer security or related fields. Students in this concentration will learn how to test for and defend against security vulnerabilities. Students will also learn how to create secure software and handle the aftermath of security breaches.
• Analysis, Simulation, and Modeling - Designed for students interested in pursuing careers in analytics, artificial intelligence, or scientific computing. This concentration is suitable for double majors in Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Geosciences.

The Bachelor of Science in Biology - Liberal Arts. The liberal arts major is designed for students who are interested in graduate school or employment directly after graduation. Students successfully completing the program will be prepared for graduate studies in wide range of disciplines, including environmental science, molecular biology and genetics, and forensic science, or employment as a research technician.
