Associate of Arts in Exercise Science Pathway

This pathway is for students who want to pursue a four-year degree in databases, networking, and web systems to meet the technological needs of business and industry.

The business administration and management AS degree prepares you to assume management or supervisory positions in business, industry and government. Learn basic skills in a broad range of business functions, including accounting, computer usage, management and marketing.

The HCC Associate in Arts degree in Theatre is for students who wish to pursue a bachelor's in drama or theatre. This pathway provides a foundation in acting, technical design, back stage work and production. Additional careers include directing, writing and teaching.

Attention all Visual and Performing Arts Students:
Due to the sequential nature of arts tracks, beginning your chosen track of electives in your first semester of study is imperative. Postponement of arts electives will result in additional time spent to complete the curriculum. The pharmacy AA pathway degree is for students who want to pursue Bachelor's degrees in pharmacy. Pharmacists dispense medications prescribed by physicians as well as educate physicians and the public about proper drug usage. This pathway provides the courses and guiding principles to increase your chances for admission to pharmacy school.

The AA pathway in Anthropology is for students who want to pursue a bachelor's degree in anthropology or a related field. Anthropology is the study of humans, past and present. To understand the full sweep and complexity of cultures across human history, anthropology draws and builds upon knowledge from the social and biological sciences as well as the humanities and physical sciences.

Courses in this track may be applied toward your degree at the institution where you plan to transfer. Students are advised to consult an advisor or counselor for general education and recommended courses/electives for this pathway.

The paralegal studies AS degree prepares you for a paraprofessional career as a paralegal (legal assistant). Under the supervision and direction of a licensed attorney, a paralegal may engage in legal research, case development, preparation of legal documents and trial exhibits, analyzing information, interviewing clients, assisting in office management, and other responsibilities unique to the legal profession. Graduates of the program are prepared to sit for national certification exams.

The demand for quality childcare providers continues to rise, resulting in numerous opportunities for well-trained early childhood professionals. In Hillsborough Community College’s Early Childhood Education Program, you will develop the skills you need to create safe, healthy and nurturing learning environments that meet the emotional, social, intellectual and physical needs of children in care.

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as early childhood professionals, preschool teachers, child development center managers, and to provide supplementary training for persons previously or currently employed in these occupations.

HCC’s early childhood programs (AS.EDU, AS.PRE) are designed to prepare students for the Florida Staff Credential.  The academic requirements for professional certification in other states vary. HCC has not yet determined the status of this credential in all states.

HCC’s early childhood management course (EEC1521) meets the academic requirement for the Florida Director Credential. The academic requirements for administrative certification in other states vary. HCC has not yet determined the status of this credential in all states.

The HCC Associate in Arts degree in Dance is for students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in dance or further their dance training at the university level or pursue a dance career. Dance courses are rigorous and demanding, but offer students opportunities for artistic explorations, creative thinking and individual growth. The associate in arts emphasis in dance provides a comprehensive sequence of technique, choreography, repertory and analysis courses. Careers include performing, teaching, writing and directing.
