The master’s degree in design and merchandising with a specialization in apparel and merchandising provides a focus on scientific discovery and creative scholarship grounded in sustainability, health and wellness, and social responsibility. Financial Planning - Concentration
Financial planners are responsible for guiding individuals through life’s big financial decisions. This concentration prepares you to enter the financial planning profession as a personal financial planner, investment adviser, or financial product representative. In careers like these, you’ll help people learn to manage their money in order to better support themselves and their families, successfully save for retirement or a college degree, manage estate planning, as well as navigate the complexities of tax and insurance planning.

The financial planning concentration is a CFP® Board Registered Program. Upon graduating from CSU’s College of Business, you will be on track to becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, prepared to uphold the highest ethical standards and maintain the fiduciary responsibility to put your client's interests above your own.

The Major in Restoration Ecology emphasizes interdisciplinary study, research, and restoration of damaged, degraded or destroyed rangelands and forested ecosystems of the world. More specifically, this major focuses on the restoration of rangelands and forests for multiple uses. These uses include both consumptive and non-consumptive activities such as recreation, preservation of wildlife habitat, providing for aesthetic beauty, livestock grazing, and timber production. Forests and rangelands occupy the vast majority of the earth’s land surface and Colorado is an ideal setting for the study of restoration ecology with many different types of rangeland and forest ecosystems in close proximity.

Students in this program will gain the important knowledge and skills necessary to restore damaged ecosystems. They will learn how to manipulate soil, water, vegetation and animal resources in order to implement successful restoration for local, state and federal land management agencies as well as for a variety of private entities, landowners and non-governmental agencies. Students develop an in-depth understanding of basic plant and animal biology; a basic understanding of the physical sciences as they relate to restoration ecology; knowledge of important concepts of ecology and natural resources management; an understanding of economics related to evaluating alternatives; and analytical and decision-making skills. Students also develop communication, political and interpersonal skills to make their education effective. Examples of career opportunities include, but are not limited to restoration ecologist, soil conservationist, plant ecologist, riparian ecologist, researcher, commercial sales and service representative, consultants, and mine reclamation specialist.

The department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has been a leader in innovation for more than a century.  The ECE faculty prepare students for the vast, fast-paced field of electrical and computer engineering by emphasizing the fundamentals, while teaching them how to think creatively and work collaboratively.

Organization and Innovation Management - Concentration
No matter the industry, no matter the business, managers play a key role in bringing diverse stakeholders and team members together to achieve common goals. From negotiating deadlines and budgets to overseeing projects and workgroups, management skills are integral to a variety of career paths.

The organization and innovation management concentration in the CSU College of Business refines your natural leadership skills. Through coursework taught by knowledgeable and engaging faculty, you’ll learn the skills you need to innovate, lead others and make informed and ethical decisions that advance both short- and long-term efforts.

Prevention science focuses on strategies that reduce risk factors and promote positive development to improve the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. The master’s degree includes coursework in lifespan development, risk and resilience, and family functioning. In addition, you will be trained in program development, implementation, and evaluation, as well as research design and grant writing, to help prepare you for various careers in the human services, or to go on to doctoral studies.

This program is offered by the LEAP Institute for the Arts, a special academic unit of Colorado State University’s College of Liberal Arts.

Horticulture is the application of scientific principles in the growing, marketing, processing, and utilizing of fruits, vegetables, flower and foliage plants, trees, shrubs, and turf grasses. The major requires a strong grounding in botany, chemistry, and horticulture. There are four concentrations in the Horticulture major: Floriculture, Horticultural Business Management, Horticultural Food Crops, and Horticultural Science.
