Theatre Arts
The Department of Theatre and Dance trains you in the full range of theatrical disciplines, providing you with mentorship and support in creative expression, critical thinking and personal development. Our goal is to create total theatre artists.
The Theatre department at Drew is dedicated to a broad-based study of the history, literature, theory and practice of theatre and its various disciplines in the context of an overall liberal arts education. Students grow as artists through rigorous academic courses, internships, exciting opportunities for professional collaboration and an extensive co-curricular production program that centers on student initiative.

Mathematics
Mathematics lies at the heart of the liberal arts. Based in abstraction and logical reasoning, mathematics is both a body of knowledge and an elegant and useful way of perceiving our world. Through mathematics, we can distill and describe the otherwise hidden patterns and relations among things. Because of this, mathematics finds ubiquitous application, from the natural and social sciences to the humanities and the arts. Precise abstraction and quantification play an increasingly important role in these diverse areas, and the study of mathematics can provide a foundation for any of them.

Physics
Physics provides much of the conceptual foundation and instrumentation fundamental to astronomy, engineering and other sciences. Finance
Drew’s STEM-designated Master of Science in Finance (MS) program is a rigorous 30 credit immersion in the quantitative and analytical methods and tools used in financial services today.

Building on Drew’s two decades of success with our unique Wall Street Semester and strong ties to the financial services industry, MS students receive the training and credentials needed to succeed in careers in a variety of organizations, including banks, financial firms, global corporations, government agencies and nonprofits.
Unique to the Drew MS in Finance program, participating students will have opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills through financial internships, in the real world, after completing classroom coursework. Likewise, Drew’s co-curricular programming includes guest lectures and trips into NYC to visit financial firms, regulators, and even nonprofits centered on promoting ethical financial behavior and financial literacy.

Within the context of a liberal arts education, the Drew University Music Department nurtures and supports the development of a well-rounded and integrated understanding of music through a balanced curriculum providing experiences in historical study and research, solo and ensemble performance, theoretical and style analysis, and original composition work. The foundation of our curriculum is built upon the classical Western European tradition with extensions provided into musics of the world, jazz, popular, and new music practices.

The study of music at Drew extends a student’s comprehension of history and society while also preparing him or her for a career in music. The expression of ideas and emotions through music is integral to every culture. The broadly educated musician is in demand in the recording industry, education, theater, film, television, and radio.

Media and Communications is designed to investigate how media and communication shapes identity, society and democratic processes. Available as a major or minor program of study.
Whether your interest is in media production, film, social media, journalism, advertising, or the impact media messages have on our lives, a degree in media and communications at Drew can help you meet your goals.
Our major prepares students for graduate work or further professional training, as well as for positions in media and communications industries. Courses developed by faculty in more than a dozen disciplines allow students to explore all aspects of media and communication from the theoretical to the practical, including media analysis and documentary production.

Art History
Art History majors study the visual arts, past and present, as forms of communication that are shaped by physical, cultural, political, psychological and economic contexts. Our majors are guided through a curriculum that provides historical and geographic breadth in the history of art and an introduction to studio art practice. In small, discussion-based courses our majors master the critical reading, writing and speaking skills that will prepare them to successfully navigate our media-rich world.
The Art History curriculum enhances classroom learning with experiential opportunities. We take full advantage of our proximity to New York City, a global art capital. The New York Semester on Contemporary Art is often described by our majors as a formative experience. Museums and Society, a course conducted partially at regional museums, offers another opportunity for experiential learning. Majors are also encouraged to include credit-bearing arts-related internships as part of their curriculum.

These internships and experiential learning opportunities encourage students to begin thinking about their careers and help them develop valuable skills while at Drew.
