The creative writing concentration is for serious writers ready to immerse themselves in their craft. Classes are intimate and interactive, led by our faculty's accomplished poets, playwrights, and fiction and nonfiction writers.

Video/Television

The BS in Video/Television gives you a more technical, specialized approach to television and video production. Courses include advanced television technologies, multi-camera production, a media production practicum, as well as a science and computer science requirement.

An INTO Hofstra International Year One program in Natural Science will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor’s degree program at Hofstra University. Physics
The BA in Physics is best for students who are interested in teaching at the middle or high school level or are interested in technical careers that don't require graduate degrees. This degree gives students the freedom to take courses in the liberal arts and pursue other minors. The BA also makes sense for students who will be pursuing careers in law, business, or medicine.

Africana Studies
Students can pursue Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies, and learn about the identities, history, geography, language, politics, economics, and cultural experience of the African people, as well as Black peoples in the Americas and Europe. Learn how Africa's natural resources are fueling the economies of the developing world.

Biology - Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental/Pre-Veterinary

The Bachelor of Science is appropriate for students planning graduate studies in biology and professional pursuits in the fields of biology, medicine or higher education. The BS has an options requirement – areas of specialized learning. Choose from Cell and Molecular Biology; Ecology and Evolution; Marine Biology; Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental and Pre-Veterinary Studies; and Secondary Education.

The arrival of the Big Data Era has created a significant demand for people who are well-educated in business analytics. The Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics is well-positioned to deliver this program with many faculty members who are scholars and/or have experience in this area.

The program will prepare students for business analytics careers in industry, government, health care and nonprofit organizations. This program enhances the students’ critical thinking, analytical skills, and practical experience in this field.

If you have an innate curiosity about human behavior, social organization, and cultural diversity, Hofstra's BA in Anthropology may be the right program for you. In addition to our concentration in Archaeology, we are one of few schools in the New York metropolitan area to offer a minor in the emerging field of Food Studies.
