Finance
As a student in our finance program, you will learn how to assess risk and use financial modeling to game out different strategies and scenarios. You will develop an understanding of how economic policy moves markets and drives values. Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling
The Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling degree is designed to provide students with the educational preparation to qualify as a licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a critical knowledge base comprised of 11 content areas identified by the New York State Education Department in compliance with Article 163 of the Education Law which established mental health counseling as a licensed profession in New York state in 2006.
The Mental Health Counseling Program is designed as a clinically focused experience aimed at building the knowledge, skills and dispositions/attitudes essential for mental health counseling practice in an increasingly diverse society. The counseling program has a state-of-the-art training lab that is centrally utilized for the skills development practice of its students.

Graduate Pathway in Creative Arts Therapy Counseling (2-Semester) Leading to Master of Arts in Creative Arts Therapy Counseling
An INTO Hofstra Graduate Pathway program in Creative Arts Therapy Counseling will prepare you to enter your next semester of a master’s degree program at Hofstra University. Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your next semester of graduate study at Hofstra University. This transition from an INTO Hofstra program to a university degree program is called progression.
Creative Arts Therapy Counseling
The Master of Arts degree (MA) in creative arts therapy counseling, currently approved by the American Art Therapy Association (AATA), is designed to provide students with a critical knowledge base comprised of content areas identified by both the American Art Therapy Association and New York State Education Department. Graduates will be prepared to work effectively in hospitals, agencies, rehabilitation centers, adult facilities, day treatment centers, mental health centers and schools. Graduates work with individuals who have experienced mental and physical illness, trauma, addictions, changes in living, developmental disabilities, autism, and those who seek personal development. This program is the first step that students take toward achieving New York state creative arts therapy licensure.
This creative arts therapy master's degree incorporates counseling strategies in core courses and selected electives. Our electives include expressive therapies (drama, dance, movement, play, poetry, music) as well as courses in other related disciplines such as counseling, marriage and family therapy, and special education.

Pre-Medical Studies
The Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medical Studies is an interdisciplinary degree for those students who are interested primarily in science. This degree includes all science, mathematics, and statistics courses required for entrance into medical, dental, or veterinary school, as well as more advanced and specialized work in the sciences that is of particular relevance to students planning a professional career in health-related sciences. Incorporation of all of the biology and chemistry pre-requisite courses into the requirements for this interdisciplinary degree enables students to simultaneously pursue other academic interests in addition to the sciences. As a BS degree, this program has reduced general education requirements and no language requirement.

The BACHELOR of SCIENCE in COMPUTER ENGINEERING program is concerned with the design of hardware and software for computing devices and systems. Computer Engineering students take a rigorous set of courses in hardware and software related topics. Graduates with a degree in computer engineering typically secure jobs that involve the design of embedded systems, mobile devices, automotive sensing and control systems and biomedical devices to name a few. They are also capable of working in software roles such as software engineering and web and mobile development.
Concentration in Gaming and Graphics
The Concentration in Gaming and Graphics is aimed at educating students in the design and development of video games and game engines. This is a very exciting and growing industry. Video games have permeated all segments of population and industry from entertainment to educational. All courses in this concentration include a significant experiential component.

Psychology
The BA in Psychology prepares you for graduate study in psychology or a career in human service professions and behavioral research (such as in a hospital or government setting). The degree is also appropriate if you are considering work or graduate study in a wide range of fields outside of psychology, including business, education, health, law, and technology. Psychology BA students are taught to think critically about truth claims involving behavior and to reason and communicate scientifically.
A major in psychology may be applied to a variety of career paths, including advertising, business, drama, education, journalism, law, and technology, as well as advanced graduate work in psychology, health professions, law, education, business, and many other fields.
