Philosophy
The BS in Philosophy degree is focused on philosophical areas that are relevant to another professional, technical or scientific discipline. This degree differs from the BA program primarily because it requires students to complete more requirements in a discipline outside philosophy, either through a double major or a minor.

German

The German major provides, in a systematic fashion through its levels of instruction, a solid foundation in German grammar and vocabulary, comprehension and conversational skills (idioms and slang!), and German-language literature and culture in general. The literary focus reinforces the grounding in the nuances of the language and culture in compelling historical contexts up to the present, including the catastrophes of the first and second world wars and the Holocaust, the Cold War division through the Berlin Wall, and German Reunification in 1990.

The German major prepares students for study abroad or independent research in German-speaking countries (i.e., Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and for graduate study in other disciplines that encourage the acquisition of the German language beyond German Studies.

Accounting
In most states, candidates for the CPA examination are required to have completed 150 semester hours of course work in order to be eligible for licensure. New York state currently requires 69 s.h. in business, of which 33 must be in accounting. This program, which is offered by the Department of Accounting, Taxation and Legal Studies in Business, should enable students who have taken 39 undergraduate credits in business from an accredited institution, including at least six credits in accounting, to meet this requirement. Students without the equivalent of 39 credits in business are advised to consider the MBA in Professional Accountancy, which will satisfy all educational eligibility requirements for licensure. Students are advised to check with other state boards of accountancy for eligibility requirements outside of New York state.

Allows students to take a wider range of specialized courses in various aspects of the craft—such as cinematography, sound design, editing, digital post-production, and screenwriting.

Computer Science and Cybersecurity

The new BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND CYBERSECURITY program is designed to produce graduates who are fully qualified as computer software and hardware developers, while at the same time, able to serve as information security officers, penetration testers, and network administrators. The program provides a solid foundation of computer science, emphasizing specifically the expertise in computing systems. The BA program looks at sustainability through a liberal arts lens. This degree has more freedom to choose electives than the BS program since there are less science and math courses required.
