Students in the Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Studies program pursue one of three concentrations:

• Media, Law, and Policy

Fine Arts

This degree is for students who may be interested in a double major in areas such as education, marketing, computer science, or film. Students have the option of a general fine arts degree, or a specialization in design, painting, or sculpture-industrial design.

Bioengineering

Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering students concentrate in one of three areas: Biomechanics, Bioelectricity, or Pre-Med. You'll first build a foundation in universal engineering theories, mathematics, and the physical and life sciences, before moving on to courses in your area of interest:

Pre-Medicine

• Chemistry
• Biochemistry
• Genetics

The BA in Mathematical Economics focuses more on the use of analytical tools to understand broader economic issues. Students in this program often pursue careers in government, consulting, or academic research.

Asian Studies
Students in the Asian Studies program learn about the traditional and modern societies of Asia through teaching, research, and service. They graduate equipped to enter a variety of career paths.

The program fosters understanding of the cultural, social, and political relationships amongst the various countries in Asia, North America, and Europe. Through additional outreach activities, students also learn about the connections between Asia, the growing Asian American communities in the New York metropolitan area, and the University.

Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of undergraduate study at Hofstra University. This transition from an INTO Hofstra program to a university degree program is called progression.

Pre-Medical Studies
The Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medical Studies is an interdisciplinary degree for those students who are interested primarily in science. This degree includes all science, mathematics, and statistics courses required for entrance into medical, dental, or veterinary school, as well as more advanced and specialized work in the sciences that is of particular relevance to students planning a professional career in health-related sciences. Incorporation of all of the biology and chemistry pre-requisite courses into the requirements for this interdisciplinary degree enables students to simultaneously pursue other academic interests in addition to the sciences. As a BS degree, this program has reduced general education requirements and no language requirement.

Labor Studies
Around the world, from the factory to the office to the internet, today's workplace is changing rapidly. These changes are dramatically affecting not only the ways that we work, but also the basic relationships among workers, between workers and labor unions, and between labor and management. Labor studies offers students a broad background in the multiple perspectives on – and different analytical approaches to – job and pay issues in an international context.

The BS in Mathematics is appropriate for students planning graduate studies in mathematics or professional pursuits in the field of mathematics. The BS requires the completion of one of seven tracks: mathematics, actuarial science, applied mathematics, chemistry, physics, engineering, or computer science.

The BACHELOR of SCIENCE in COMPUTER ENGINEERING program is concerned with the design of hardware and software for computing devices and systems. Computer Engineering students take a rigorous set of courses in hardware and software related topics. Graduates with a degree in computer engineering typically secure jobs that involve the design of embedded systems, mobile devices, automotive sensing and control systems and biomedical devices to name a few. They are also capable of working in software roles such as software engineering and web and mobile development.

Students desiring intensive study at the undergraduate level to develop proficiency in the fields of computer engineering, such as hardware, software, and embedded systems, will find this program to be a challenging and rewarding experience. The curriculum provides a broad foundation in the science and engineering of computer systems software and hardware, and the design of digital and embedded systems. The broad range of Hofstra University resources in the humanities and social sciences make the liberal arts component especially enlightening.
