International Year One in Computer Science will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor’s degree program at Hofstra University. Upon successful completion of International Year One and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of undergraduate study at Hofstra University. The BACHELOR OF ARTS IN COMPUTER SCIENCE gives students a solid foundation in computer science. Fewer required courses in the major and more electives allow students to pursue minors and a second major in other departments. Students may pursue a general track or an individual track that has a sequence of two independent study courses specially designed in collaboration with a faculty member.

Gaming and Graphics

The Concentration in Gaming and Graphics is aimed at educating students in the design and development of video games and game engines.  This is a very exciting and growing industry. Video games have permeated all segments of population and industry from entertainment to educational. All courses in this concentration include a significant experiential component.

Africana Studies
Students can pursue Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies, and learn about the identities, history, geography, language, politics, economics, and cultural experience of the African people, as well as Black peoples in the Americas and Europe. Learn how Africa's natural resources are fueling the economies of the developing world.

Business Analytics

The program will provide a superior education to undergraduate students and prepare them for business analytics careers in business, government, healthcare, and other not-for-profit organizations. It also enhances the students' analytical thinking, skills, and practical experience in this field.

Biochemistry prepares students to pursue advanced degrees in forensic science, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacology, neuroscience, and molecular biology, as well as for medical, dental, and pharmacy schools, and physician assistant programs.

Theory/Composition Concentration
This concentration prepares student musicians for advanced study leading to careers in music theory, composition, or other allied areas of music.

Accounting
This program qualifies students for general accounting careers in business, but does not satisfy in full the educational requirements for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York state

Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of undergraduate study at Hofstra University. This transition from an INTO Hofstra program to a university degree program is called progression.

Biology - Cell and Molecular Biology

The Bachelor of Science is appropriate for students planning graduate studies in biology and professional pursuits in the fields of biology, medicine or higher education. The BS has an options requirement – areas of specialized learning. Choose from Cell and Molecular Biology; Ecology and Evolution; Marine Biology; Pre-Medical, Pre-Dental and Pre-Veterinary Studies; and Secondary Education.

Psychology
The BA in Psychology prepares you for graduate study in psychology or a career in human service professions and behavioral research (such as in a hospital or government setting). The degree is also appropriate if you are considering work or graduate study in a wide range of fields outside of psychology, including business, education, health, law, and technology. Psychology BA students are taught to think critically about truth claims involving behavior and to reason and communicate scientifically.

A major in psychology may be applied to a variety of career paths, including advertising, business, drama, education, journalism, law, and technology, as well as advanced graduate work in psychology, health professions, law, education, business, and many other fields.

An INTO Hofstra Graduate Pathway program in Health Informatics will prepare you to enter your next semester of a master’s degree program at Hofstra University. Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your next semester of graduate study at Hofstra University. This transition from an INTO Hofstra program to a university degree program is called progression.

Health Informatics
Hofstra's master in Health Informatics is designed to address the foundational concepts of information technology systems in healthcare. Graduates of the healthcare informatics program will be familiar with current health information systems and technologies and will be prepared to analyze, design and manage evolving health information systems for a wide variety of clinical, administrative and research purposes.

Components of the program include:

• Advanced training to prepare students to lead IT-based innovation and transform healthcare delivery, management, and planning.
• Small class sizes.
• Applied experience culminating in a six-credit practicum where students are assigned to rotations at affiliated health information system departments within various health systems such as Northwell Health to obtain hands-on training, experience, and exposure in all disciplines of healthcare informatics.
