As a religion major you will:

• Develop and apply critical and analytical skills to connect the role of religion with societal values and norms
• Recognize the role religion plays in public life, especially as it shapes social, political, and economic views
• Experience and understand how religions interact with and influence one another
• Distinguish the many forms of human religious expression and rituals, from ancient times to the modern era

Physics
The BS in Physics is better suited for students who are planning careers as research scientists or in technology fields that require advanced degrees in physics or engineering.

Anthropology
If you have an innate curiosity about human behavior, social organization, and cultural diversity, Hofstra's BA in Anthropology may be the right program for you. In addition to our concentration in Archaeology, we are one of few schools in the New York metropolitan area to offer a minor in the emerging field of Food Studies.

The BA program looks at sustainability through a liberal arts lens. This degree has more freedom to choose electives than the BS program since there are less science and math courses required. It is designed for students who aspire to work in public policy, law, urban planning, community development or business.

The Bachelor of Science in Geology is designed for students who want to pursue graduate studies or professional employment in geology, environmental consulting, geotechnical consulting, or a related scientific discipline. In addition to geology courses, the BS requires additional coursework in physics, biology, chemistry, math, and computer science.

Economics
As an economics student at Hofstra, you will learn about every level of economics – from how people go about the everyday business of making a living, to how our shared actions and attitudes affect the livelihoods of every person on the planet. You will be exposed to a wide variety of ideas about how corporate, regional, national, and international economies grow and change over time. And you will gain insights into how sound economic policies influence and inform nearly every aspect of society.

Are you drawn to math and numbers? Do you like to solve problems using data and value activities that follow routines and procedures? Then you should apply your analytical mindset and pursue a career in accounting.
This program qualifies students for general accounting careers in business, but does not satisfy in full the educational requirements for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York state

International Business

The major concentration enables students to establish a strong base of specialized knowledge in one of the areas of study represented in the Zarb School of Business. This complements the skills in the various functional areas of business, as well as the professional leadership and management orientation.

Upon successful completion of International Year One and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of undergraduate study at Hofstra University. This program pairs you with dedicated faculty who help you succeed in your first year at Hofstra University.

German

The German major provides, in a systematic fashion through its levels of instruction, a solid foundation in German grammar and vocabulary, comprehension and conversational skills (idioms and slang!), and German-language literature and culture in general. The literary focus reinforces the grounding in the nuances of the language and culture in compelling historical contexts up to the present, including the catastrophes of the first and second world wars and the Holocaust, the Cold War division through the Berlin Wall, and German Reunification in 1990.

The German major prepares students for study abroad or independent research in German-speaking countries (i.e., Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and for graduate study in other disciplines that encourage the acquisition of the German language beyond German Studies.
