Majoring in history lets you dive into the topics you are most excited about. Our program offers nearly 100 courses – from the Middle Ages to the American Revolution. You’ll get the opportunity to learn in small classes from a passionate faculty.

History at Illinois State offers an Accelerated Master’s Degree (AMD) sequence. This option gives high-achieving undergraduate students the opportunity to earn a master’s degree with only one year of additional study. Once enrolled in the major, you can contact your advisor to learn more.

The Wonsook Kim School of Art offers a comprehensive list of sequence options for a student interested in Studio Arts. The following are offered as areas of specialization: Ceramics, Drawing, Expanded Media, Glass, Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Video, and Wood / Metal Design.

Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. Within each sequence, faculty are actively engaged in introducing students to various technical skills and ideas specific to that discipline. The cohesive sequencing of courses within each studio area allows the student to build skills and knowledge towards a highly sophisticated level of work in that field of exploration.

Technology - Quality Management and Analytics
The sequence introduces quality management tools to enhance customer and supplier relations, strategic planning, and measurement systems to improve overall organizational performance. Students will learn and apply quantitative analytical modeling techniques to solve decision problems and risk situations faced by project managers. In addition, an overview of six sigma data-driven decision making methodologies will be introduced to gain insights into advanced quality based industrial management techniques.

Elementary Education - Bilingual/Bicultural Teacher Education
Focusing on the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures, the Elementary Education-Bilingual/Bicultural Teacher Education program at Illinois State prepares future teachers for state approval or endorsement to teach in bilingual elementary classrooms. You will be prepared for a professional educator's license in grades 1-6.

Candidates for this program experience a yearlong Professional Development School (PDS) internship in a bilingual classroom in Chicago, Elgin, Palatine, or Wheeling. Graduates of our program are certificated to teach in Spanish/English-bilingual elementary classrooms, English-speaking elementary classrooms, and often have a minor in Spanish or English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement.

Geography Social Science Teacher Education
Geography social science educators use their expertise to engage students in the global world. You’ll teach students about the people, places, environments, regions, and current events that shape human lives. You’ll also give students the tools they need to be productive, global citizens.

Geography social science education at Illinois State prepares you to teach high school social science courses. This includes:

Students pursuing the Master of Music in Conducting are given extensive podium time and are mentored by dedicated and active conducting faculty. Upon graduation students are prepared to:

• Seek their doctoral degree

The Theatre Studies major provides you with a broad-based, hands-on education in theatre within the context of a liberal arts degree. As a student in our program, you’ll dive deep into cultures, language, and artifacts from the ancient past. You’ll see firsthand how anthropology has major impacts on issues we face today, like poverty, health, and social justice.
