Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. Within each sequence, faculty are actively engaged in introducing students to various technical skills and ideas specific to that discipline. The cohesive sequencing of courses within each studio area allows the student to build skills and knowledge towards a highly sophisticated level of work in that field of exploration.

Students in Legal Studies, a major offered by the Department of Politics and Government, have great opportunities for learning and growth, both as individuals and within the paralegal field as a whole. The Department of Politics and Government provides a variety of resources for Legal Studies majors including internship opportunities, small class sizes, as well as full-time faculty or experienced practitioners teaching all levels of coursework.

The Legal Studies curriculum is designed to provide specialized knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment as a paralegal. Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law. Information Systems - Geographic Information Systems
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a master’s sequence in Information Systems. The degree is a cross-disciplinary sequence between the School of Information Technology and the Institute for Geospatial Analysis and Mapping, located in the Department of Geography, Geology, and the Environment.

GIS at Illinois State gives you the essential knowledge to use current GIS applications and develop future systems. The program teaches theory and provides practical experience using GIS systems. Students perform statistical analysis and interpretation by mapping spatial coordinates onto multiple datasets. The program also covers geographical data and the procedures for capturing, storing, querying, and displaying it.

The Theatre Studies major provides you with a broad-based, hands-on education in theatre within the context of a liberal arts degree. Clients include people who have a disability, injury, illness or other health condition. Using play and other activities, therapists create a healthy physical and social environment.

Students in this major use theory in the classroom and the real world by completing two internships. The major also offers opportunities to attend conferences, participate in clubs, and study abroad. These activities help students develop a professional network.

Faculty in therapeutic recreation have awards for teaching, research, and service. They also conduct and publish research as well as write industry-leading textbooks.
