Public Service is a 32-hour sequence of the master's degree in Political Science. The Public Service sequence is designed for students interested in employment in the public sector, particularly at the state and local level.

Majoring in history lets you dive into the topics you are most excited about. Our program offers nearly 100 courses – from the Middle Ages to the American Revolution. You’ll get the opportunity to learn in small classes from a passionate faculty.

History at Illinois State offers an Accelerated Master’s Degree (AMD) sequence. This option gives high-achieving undergraduate students the opportunity to earn a master’s degree with only one year of additional study. Once enrolled in the major, you can contact your advisor to learn more.

Physics

Explore the mysteries of the universe. From galaxies to particles, physicists study the world around us and beyond to explain how things work and exist.

The Physics major at Illinois State is broad. You’ll get a diverse curriculum that covers a variety of topics, including:

Integration of Enterprise Systems is a sequence in the Information Systems major.

Information Systems (IS) is at the heart of any organization. Companies rely on information to make good decisions, create new products and services, and understand their target audience. IS professionals integrate hardware and software to help organizations manage their information.

The sociology field is broad and our program reflects that. We'll give you a solid foundation in data analysis and research methods to prepare you to work in a data-driven society. From there, what you study is up to you. You can choose to focus on areas of sociology that engage you and meet your goals.

We offer lots of opportunities for you to take a deep dive into your passion. In addition to a thesis, you can work one-on-one with faculty on research projects that make positive impacts in communities around the world.

Sociology at Illinois State offers you all the support you need. Our classes are small and you'll have plenty of individualized attention. Plus, our faculty and staff will be with you from start to finish.

The Music Therapy sequence provides academic content and clinical experiences related to competencies outlined by the American Music Therapy Association.

Students who complete the Music Therapy degree are eligible to sit for the national board certification exam to obtain the credential MT-BC (Music Therapist - Board Certified), which is necessary for professional practice.

Statistics is the science and art of making inferences from data, under conditions of uncertainty. The practice of Statistics requires not only the understanding of the statistical techniques, but also understanding of the problem requiring statistical analysis, whether it is in the liberal arts, the sciences, health sciences, or business.

The Statistics sequence has an interdisciplinary component so that this program will help develop skills in the application of Statistics to a variety of disciplines.

 The Master of Music in Collaborative Piano curriculum include collaboration with a myriad of instruments/voice ins:

• Advanced accompanying
• Keyboard ensemble
• Chamber music
• Large ensembles

Electives may include courses such as:

• Music history
• Music theory
• Pedagogy and literature

The MM in Collaborative Piano prepares graduates for employment as:

• A professional accompanist
• A chamber music musician
• A teacher of accompanying and/or chamber music.

English
The English Studies major is based on a broad model of interdisciplinary study in the fields that make up English Studies. The Department of English offers a full curriculum of courses in eight disciplines, including literature and cultural studies, children's literature, linguistics, rhetoric and composition, technical communications, creative writing, the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and Publishing.

Students learn how to write well, read critically, develop investigative research skills, working hands-on in digital environments and social networking, and frequently win some of the most prestigious awards at Illinois State, such as the Bone Scholarship. Faculty are eager to work with undergraduate students on research projects, and our low student-to-faculty ratio means you will receive guidance from professors who hold the highest doctoral degrees and are internationally recognized as experts in their fields.

This flexibility in the degree allows both the student with interests in a variety of different fields in English Studies and the student who wants to specialize in a particular discipline to meet their goals.

Construction Management
Accredited by the American Council For Construction Education (ACCE), the Construction Management major develops leaders for the building construction industry.
