Agriculture - Pre-Veterinary Medicine
This sequence prepares students for entry into schools or colleges of Veterinary Medicine. The program of study includes Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Math courses. Graduates of Veterinary Medicine with a DVM may find career opportunities in clinical practice, with government agencies and in private industry.

Students pursuing the Master of Music in Conducting are given extensive podium time and are mentored by dedicated and active conducting faculty. Upon graduation students are prepared to:

• Seek their doctoral degree
• Conduct school, church or community ensembles
• Conduct at a community college or university

The curriculum includes:

• Applied conducting
• Analysis for conductors
• Research
• Practicum in conducting
• Electives chosen from courses like non-degree recitals, music technology, music history, music theory, music education, music therapy, music business, jazz studies, ensembles, and non-music courses

Economics - Managerial Economics
Managerial Economics goes beyond the limits of traditional economics and business majors, blending a thorough grounding in economic theory with business knowledge and applications. Students in the Managerial Economics sequence receive in-depth training to economics and quantitative methods, problem-solving strategies, critical thinking and effective communication skills.

The Agribusiness sequence is designed to advance students' knowledge of the theories of agribusiness management and the science of agricultural production and their application to decisions made by agribusiness managers. The academic content of this sequence concentrates on agricultural economics and business management subjects.

This program prepares students to make a positive impact on professional practices and policies in recreation management. It also helps them be successful leaders in recreation, parks, and tourism.

Students think conceptually and analytically while focusing on scholarship and a disciplinary study. Coursework applies theories and practices in the areas of management, marketing, and finance. At the end of the sequence, students complete a thesis, professional practice, or an independent study.

Recreation Administration offers top-notch learning facilities and small class sizes that encourage interaction and discussion. Faculty members are dedicated to supporting students and provide learning opportunities that connect students to real-world professional issues.

Special Education - Specialist in Learning and Behavior
As the largest specialty program, the Learning and Behavior Specialist prepares students to teach in most public special education classrooms. Specialists in Learning and Behavior teach children with learning, emotional, or cognitive disabilities, orthopedic impairments, autism spectrum, multiple disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, or other health impairments.

Sociology at Illinois State prepares you to change the world you live in.

Sociology studies people, organizations, and systems. In the field, this is known as social structures.

Our family, jobs, the law, economy, and government are some of the most influential social structures in our lives. Sociology helps us understand how these structures work so we can make the world better.

It examines data to get to the root cause of problems and issues, such as racism, divorce, poverty, and crime. Sociology also develops solutions that move us in a positive direction.

Being part of our program, you’ll join other students who share your passion for helping others. We’ll help you discover how you can be a major player in sparking positive change. You’ll learn about the power of social structures, how decisions get made, and how social movements gain traction. We also take a close look at cultures, diversity, and inclusion.

Our program applies academic concepts to the real world and helps you develop the crucial skills employers need.

Most of our students do not become Sociologists. Instead, you can find them doing important work in non-profits, law enforcement, business, health care, and more.

The Biomathematics program at Illinois State University was developed to help students understand how biology and mathematics are intertwined and how a broad-based knowledge of each area will be critical for future graduate study and/or employment opportunities.

The Biomathematics sequence incorporates cross-disciplinary research as integral to the curriculum. Students choose a series of courses concentrated in one of three critical areas of Biomathematics (theoretical and applied statistics, deterministic and stochastic modeling, or computation and bioinformatics) and conduct thesis research within the cross-disciplinary field of Biomathematics. It is one of several Programs of Excellence awarded by the College of Arts and Sciences. There is no other Biomathematics M.S. program in Illinois, and the few existing programs in the nation typically do not exhibit the strong and balanced emphasis on coursework in both disciplines the Biomathematics program will offer.

The M.A. in Visual Culture offers graduate students the opportunity for critical study and analysis of artistic and cultural production throughout history.

As an interdisciplinary field of study, visual culture emerges out of a number of established disciplines including, but not limited to, art history, anthropology, cultural studies, history, literature, media studies, music, and theatre.

In addition to the study of canonical works of art, an M.A. in Visual Culture allows for the examination of those objects and images that have not fit into the traditional boundaries of art history. This degree program is intended to complement and take advantage of the fact that individuals in many different fields are already working within the bounds of visual culture.

Systems Development is a master's sequence in Information Systems. The program is designed for students who are interested in integrating existing technologies to help businesses better manage their information. Most students choosing this sequence plan to pursue further studies in Information Systems or work as a programmer-analyst, systems developer, or project manager.
