Anthropology
Anthropology studies humans from evolution to the present day. It thrives on curiosity and seeks to answer the questions we’ve always wondered, like:

• Where do we come from?
• What does it mean to be human?
• Why do people act the way they do?
• Why are things the way they are?

The journey to these answers is fascinating and Anthropology at Illinois State tackles these big questions head-on.

As a student in our program, you’ll dive deep into cultures, language, and artifacts from the ancient past. You’ll see firsthand how anthropology has major impacts on issues we face today, like poverty, health, and social justice.

Your learning doesn’t stop in the classroom. Our program cares deeply about civic engagement. You’ll join other students who share your passion for helping others and apply your knowledge to real-world projects that make a positive difference.

Computer Science

Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) at Illinois State gives you the knowledge and tools necessary to study important issues in computer science to obtain productive employment or pursue advanced degrees.

Our program emphasizes foundational knowledge in computer science and programmatic application of fundamental concepts in leading-edge applications.

It is appropriate for a range of students, including industry computing professionals seeking career advancement, students wishing to expand on their undergraduate computer science work and/or prepare for doctoral degree, and individuals wishing to make a career change.

This graduate sequence provides students with a broad-based education in Conservation Biology by combining education in basic research and classes in ecology, evolutionary genetics, and systematics.

The required classes are targeted to address applied problems such as preservation of biodiversity and genetic diversity, prairie restoration, and the effects of anthropogenic environmental change. Students' research projects range from applied science, such as management of natural areas, to basic research, such as evolutionary consequences of habitat fragmentation and of environmental toxins.

The Theatre Studies major provides you with a broad-based, hands-on education in theatre within the context of a liberal arts degree. After completing a strong core of theatre courses, you have the flexibility to choose specialty courses based on your interests and career orientation in the following areas:

• Stage directing
• Playwriting
• Theatre history
• Creative drama and puppetry
• Integrated performance
• Theatre management
• Film studies

You’ll receive a well-rounded educational experience, from academic pursuit in history, criticism, dramaturgy, and theory, to creative participation in the performing arts.

Political Science

Creative Technologies - Game DesignThe Game Design Sequence in the Creative Technologies (CTK) program at Illinois State lets you forge your own paths in the industry.

You can choose to focus on one of the many fields, including:
