The College of Pharmacy at Oregon State University offers a research-oriented graduate study program in pharmaceutical sciences that is individually designed to meet each student’s career interests and goals.

Our nationally renowned faculty members have strengths in all areas of pharmaceutical science, and many have been recognized for teaching excellence, outstanding research and their professional activities. Research focus areas include the exploration and design of anti-infective agents, the design and development of innovative drug dosage forms, and the mechanisms and consequences of drug interactions with living organisms.

English
An English degree is about more than the book. English majors learn to see complex problems in their full richness and don’t take the first answer, or the simplest answer, as truth. In our courses, all kinds of texts – from medieval poems to postmodern novels, adapted screenplays to literary criticism itself – appear as windows into the cultures and conditions in which they were produced. English majors develop habits of mind attuned to the reasons why people do what they do and write what they write. Our graduates are engaged, empathetic people pursuing a creative, critical, and useful degree.

Nutrition
A balanced diet is one of the most powerful ways to get and stay healthy. It can even help manage diseases such as diabetes and reduce the risk of others, including heart disease and osteoporosis. In our program, you’ll take a holistic look at nutrition. You’ll explore the various nutrients in food and learn about the behaviors and social factors behind the dietary choices we make. You’ll get up close and personal with macro and micro nutrients, create healthy meals using local ingredients, learn how food can help prevent chronic diseases and have the chance to advise people across the lifespan who want to improve their overall health.

Spanish
Spanish is the world's No. 2 language in terms of native speakers and has more than 500 million total speakers worldwide. Adding a B.A. in Spanish from Oregon State to your résumé will strengthen your career potential. Employees with a degree in Spanish are more adept at navigating cultural practices, enabling businesses to easily communicate in Spanish-speaking countries and worldwide.

The Digital Communication Arts degree focuses on the storytelling capacity of media and prepares students to be successful navigators of ever-changing technology. Students in this major will learn alternative writing approaches, nonlinear storytelling, multiple formats, and how mediated storytelling affects the story itself. They investigate how our culture will change as people shift from multiple streams of communication to information flow on a single device, and how the structures of traditional media will adapt. Courses focus on several dimensions of media adoption and adaptation including access and inclusivity, personalization and privacy, science and business. New media requires continuous research and development. Practitioners will need to be prepared to be life-long learners.

Design & Innovation Management

Are you a creative-thinker who can help an organization be a leader in design and innovation? Are you interested in working with multi-disciplinary teams on tackling creative challenges? Our design and innovation management major will help you build the skills you need for a management role in design-related fields across many areas of industry, including large and small companies.

Our design and innovation management degree focuses on the intersection of design and business, bringing together analytic and creative problem-solving skills. You'll focus on how design can be integrated into an organization from a management and strategic perspective and learn the value that design and innovation can bring to an organization.

You'll learn to integrate and focus on the role of design in the creation and management of strategic, sustainable business advantages and customer solutions.

Your career skills are rounded out with fundamentals such as project management, principles of marketing, design thinking and process innovation, retail management, ethics and corporate social responsibility as well as the fundamentals of visual arts and art history.

Agricultural and Food Business Management

Everything we eat takes a long and winding journey from field to fork. Each item is grown, harvested, processed, packaged, transported and marketed before it ever reaches your table. The way this process unfolds can have an immense political, economic and environmental ripple effect.

Business experts with the passion and skill to maintain healthy global food systems are needed more than ever. Empowering farmers to practice environmental stewardship, reducing food waste, removing dangerous chemicals from the food chain — these are the ways we ensure a healthy food system for generations to come.

As an agribusiness professional, you will spend your days solving pressing problems at the intersection of business, agriculture and natural resources. Whether by ensuring fair wages for cocoa farmers or finding a creative way to address food insecurity in your community, your career will be a rewarding one.

The department offers graduate work leading to an M.S. degree in Statistics. Students can concentrate on theory or applications, and programs can be tailored to emphasize such areas of interest as ecology, engineering, forestry, genetics/genomics and computational biology, mathematics, or oceanography. All students obtain experience as statistical consultants for problems in a variety of areas, including agriculture, biology, forestry, exercise physiology, and engineering. Students interested in environmental sciences have the opportunity to obtain experience both in and outside the classroom with statistical methods for environmental data.

The mechanical engineering (ME) profession is dedicated to applying principles of physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics in the analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical components, devices, and systems. Oregon State's graduate program in Mechanical Engineering is designed to educate leaders who will develop and improve systems for transforming energy, health, materials, and information to meet the needs of society.  To be eligible for graduate studies at Oregon State, Mechanical Engineering applicants must have a baccalaureate or master’s degree in science, mathematics, or engineering.
