Spanish

Ecological Engineering
The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Ecological Engineering degree program offered through the Colleges of Agricultural Science and Engineering is a new degree program that is the first of its kind nationally at the undergraduate level. Ecological Engineering is the design of sustainable systems consistent with ecological principles that integrate human activities into the natural environment to the benefit of both. This approach emphasizes diversity, resilience and adaptation to maintain sustainability. Ecological Engineering deals with both fundamental processes and engineering applications on scales that range from microscopic to watersheds and beyond.

Chemistry
An undergraduate degree in Chemistry opens a gateway to many professions or further studies in graduate school or professional schools, like medical school.  A Chemistry degree provides a solid foundation for many professions including teaching, forensics, biotechnology, medicine, materials science and nanotechnology, chemical processing, electronics, agricultural and food science, oceanography, and environmental science.  At OSU, we provide a very flexible curriculum that can be tuned to your interests.  Check out the options we have for you!

Merchandising Management
Students in the merchandising management program prepare for positions in management, merchandising, inventory control, sales promotion, public relations and human resources. This field offers a wide variety of career opportunities with retailers, manufacturers, marketing research firms and product information services. In a global, diverse, fast-paced and competitive environment, merchandisers are involved in market analysis, product planning, sourcing, procurement, pricing, distribution and visual presentation of apparel and textile products.

Biochemistry and Biophysics
The BS degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics provides a degree path centered on the chemistry and physics of life processes with training that integrates the principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, biochemistry, genetics, and computer science.  Biochemists explore the chemical structure of living matter and the chemical reactions occurring in living cells. Biophysicists use the methods of physical science to study the structure and functions of macromolecules and solve problems at the intersection of biological and physical sciences.

Students can earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering. The undergraduate curriculum is founded on a sound background in basic sciences (chemistry, physics, biology) and mathematics (calculus, differential equations), and strengthened with engineering science fundamentals (engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer). Upper division coursework in environmental engineering includes analysis and design of water and wastewater treatment systems, hazardous substance management and regulations, air pollution control technologies, and fate and transport of chemicals in the environment. All students participate in a capstone-design experience meant to foster interaction and communication between different engineering disciplines while applying environmental engineering principles to a real-world problem.

English
An English degree is about more than the book. English majors learn to see complex problems in their full richness and don’t take the first answer, or the simplest answer, as truth. In our courses, all kinds of texts – from medieval poems to postmodern novels, adapted screenplays to literary criticism itself – appear as windows into the cultures and conditions in which they were produced. English majors develop habits of mind attuned to the reasons why people do what they do and write what they write. Our graduates are engaged, empathetic people pursuing a creative, critical, and useful degree.

Civil engineering is the design, construction, and maintenance of public works, including roads, bridges, harbors, etc. At Oregon State University our programs in civil engineering prepare students to become working professional civil engineering and academic researchers who study civil engineering problems. Our civil engineering undergraduate program offers a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) degree where students receive general instruction in all disciplines, with the option for additional elective courses in desired areas.

Geography is the study of Earth's environments, landscapes, peoples, and places. It includes natural science (physical geography), social science (human geography), and geospatial science (GIScience). Geographers collect, analyze, and display spatial information, and apply the concepts and theory of geography to explore social and environmental questions.

Sociology
Sociology is the study of human social behavior and sociologists examine interactions within and between groups and resulting social institutions. The undergraduate program in sociology provides a general analysis and broad understanding of human societies and culture for persons in all fields. Selecting courses around a topic or theme of interest adds meaning to one’s education and strengthens the base of understanding from which one can pursue a career or further education. Two options are currently available for those interested — Crime and Justice, and Environmental and Natural Resource Sociology — although students can shape a custom theme such as international development or social policy.
