The philosophy program at OSU is designed to help students develop moral reasoning and critical thinking skills in the service of an engaged life.  Through coursework, campus events, and community involvement, our students learn how to identify, analyze, and resolve ethical, political, and epistemic issues, mentored by faculty who are actively involved in ethics and social justice research across a wide array of disciplines on the environment, religion, biomedicine, global justice, peace and conflict studies, and more.

Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies
The Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies major represents multidisciplinary approaches to the study of gender and sexuality, particularly as they intersect with race, ethnicity, class, culture, nation, and ability. The curriculum incorporates feminist social justice theory and research to better understand differences in power and privilege and to contribute to practices that help transform our world. Many classes incorporate a social activism component, and students are encouraged to consider the ways knowledge and activist engagements help promote social justice in local and global communities.

Digital Communication Arts
The Digital Communication Arts degree focuses on the storytelling capacity of media and prepares students to be successful navigators of ever-changing technology. Students in this major will learn alternative writing approaches, nonlinear storytelling, multiple formats, and how mediated storytelling affects the story itself. They investigate how our culture will change as people shift from multiple streams of communication to information flow on a single device, and how the structures of traditional media will adapt. Courses focus on several dimensions of media adoption and adaptation including access and inclusivity, personalization and privacy, science and business. New media requires continuous research and development. Practitioners will need to be prepared to be life-long learners.

Chemistry
An undergraduate degree in Chemistry opens a gateway to many professions or further studies in graduate school or professional schools, like medical school.  A Chemistry degree provides a solid foundation for many professions including teaching, forensics, biotechnology, medicine, materials science and nanotechnology, chemical processing, electronics, agricultural and food science, oceanography, and environmental science.  At OSU, we provide a very flexible curriculum that can be tuned to your interests.  Check out the options we have for you!

Geography and geospatial science provide approaches and tools to address pressing issues affecting communities, nations and the planet. At OSU students combine geography — the study of human and Earth system processes in space and time — and geospatial science — the collection, analysis, and presentation of spatial data — to analyze and interpret change in the environment and human society. The program has three areas of excellence: geospatial analysis and modeling, dynamic Earth processes, and global change risk and resilience. Graduates work in government, industry, and non-governmental organizations, addressing climate change, environmental hazards, natural resources, and their human dimensions. Picture yourself in an M.S. or Ph.D. program in Geography working with some of the most creative and renowned faculty in the country.

Nuclear Engineering
Nuclear engineering focuses on enabling the peaceful use of the atom to provide electricity, process heat and make products that utilize radiation and radioactive materials.  Within the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE) there are numerous opportunities for students to gain practical knowledge and experience in many areas of the field. The undergraduate or bachelor's program is broken into two sections: pre-engineering (two years) and pro-engineering (two years). At Oregon State you can experience nuclear engineering like nowhere else in the world, as our large-scale test facilities, renowned faculty, and excellent student-to-faculty ratio make the NSE a unique and rewarding experience.

Religious Studies at OSU is an inter-disciplinary field that combines history, philosophy, anthropology, ethics, textual analysis, art, literature and film to examine the ways that humans have described and acted in response to that which they have called divine, both in civilizations long past and among peoples and nations around the world in the present moment. A major in Religious Studies will expose you to some of the most profound and beautiful creations of the human imagination, give you expertise in critical reasoning and close engagement with texts and ideas, give you skills to navigate the cultural complexity of our diverse society, and prepare you to be a participatory citizen of our interconnected global environment.

Psychology
The School of Psychological Science offers students a variety of educational avenues that provide the necessary tools for competency in, and appreciation for, psychology as a scientific discipline.

Zoology
Zoology is an interdisciplinary biological sciences degree that focuses on all aspects of the biology of animals – from genes to ecosystems.
