Agricultural Science
Think about your breakfast for a moment. Have you ever considered where it came from? That oatmeal in your bowl, the scrambled eggs on the stove your morning meal is the work of a chain of agricultural scientists stretching back centuries.

Agriculture is the backbone of human civilization and a foundation of our modern economy. Agriculture feeds us, dresses us, houses us and provides millions of jobs across the nation, accounting for 11 percent of total employment in the United States alone. If there is one career field that will never become obsolete, it’s the agricultural sciences.

As an agriculturalist, you’ll spend your days perfecting the way agricultural products are cultivated, processed and shared with the world. Whether you’re more at home on a cattle ranch or in a corner office, there is a place for you in agricultural sciences. Plus, with Oregon State’s customizable degree program, your academic focus is totally up to you.

The graduate program in Biological & Ecological Engineering deals with diverse issues in the design and analysis of a wide range of biological and hydrologic systems. Focus areas are in bioprocessing, biosystems analysis and water resource engineering/watershed analysis.

Research topics in Biological and Ecological engineering encompass biofuels production, metabolic engineering, microbial fuel cells, biohydrogen production, agrivoltaics, waste and waste water treatment, modeling and control of biological systems, biofuel systems analysis using techno-economic models and life cycle assessment.  Several of the research topics under Water Resources Engineering.

Zoology
Zoology is an interdisciplinary biological sciences degree that focuses on all aspects of the biology of animals – from genes to ecosystems. In particular, the zoology coursework covers major areas of the life sciences including genetics, physiology, ecology, evolution and conservation biology. Through comprehensive content, critical thinking skills, professional development training and the opportunity for hands-on, experiential learning, you’ll be able to apply a wealth of knowledge to real-life situations once you enter the job market.s.

Our integrated curriculum, combining both the biological and physical sciences, offers training and research opportunities in the fields of molecular and computational toxicology, environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology and risk assessment in support of our state-of-the-art and internationally competitive research, outreach and education missions. Required core courses, advanced training in a specialized area, and interdisciplinary and team-based experiential learning and professional development opportunities together strengthen the student's training in the basic sciences and ensure a thorough knowledge of the applied science of toxicology.

As a public health professional, you’ll work behind the scenes to prevent disease and protect and promote health. You’ll take a holistic look at disease and injury prevention, including environmental issues, health policies and what we call the social determinants of health, which are the social and environmental conditions in which we are born, grow, live, work and age. In addition, you’ll address health across the lifespan, health disparities and health equity. You’ll also have the opportunity to work locally, nationally and internationally on critical health issues in one of the few undergraduate public health programs in the country.

Ethnic Studies majors and minors take comparative core courses on "race" and ethnicity and select one major area of concentration from the following: African American Studies, Asian Pacific American Studies, Chicana/o Latina/o Studies, Native American Studies. In addition, majors must complete a nine-credit graded internship working with an entity that provides service to one or more of the ethnic communities named above. The minor internship, which is optional, consists of three credits.

The business administration degree provides students with a broad overview of business; basic skills in accounting and quantitative methods; an understanding of the legal and social environment of business; a background in management and organizational behavior, marketing, finance, and operations management; an understanding of the entrepreneurial process; and the opportunity to integrate course work and further develop decision-making skills through the analysis of business cases.

Geography and Geospatial Science
Geography is the study of Earth's environments, landscapes, peoples, and places. It includes natural science (physical geography), social science (human geography), and geospatial science (GIScience). Geographers collect, analyze, and display spatial information, and apply the concepts and theory of geography to explore social and environmental questions.
