The sixth most widely spoken language in the world, it is the second most widely learned foreign language, one of six working languages of the United Nations, and one of three procedural languages of the European Union, alongside English and German. French-speaking countries contribute to approximately 1/5th of the global economy, and French remains one of the most important diplomatic languages in international agencies and organizations, such as NATO, the World Health Organization, Interpol, the African Union, the International Olympic Committee, the World Trade Organization, the Red Cross, Médecins sans Frontières, etc.

If there is one career field that will never become obsolete, it’s the agricultural sciences.

As an agriculturalist, you’ll spend your days perfecting the way agricultural products are cultivated, processed and shared with the world. Whether you’re more at home on a cattle ranch or in a corner office, there is a place for you in agricultural sciences. Design & Innovation Management

Are you a creative-thinker who can help an organization be a leader in design and innovation? Are you interested in working with multi-disciplinary teams on tackling creative challenges? Our design and innovation management major will help you build the skills you need for a management role in design-related fields across many areas of industry, including large and small companies.

Our design and innovation management degree focuses on the intersection of design and business, bringing together analytic and creative problem-solving skills. You'll focus on how design can be integrated into an organization from a management and strategic perspective and learn the value that design and innovation can bring to an organization.

You'll learn to integrate and focus on the role of design in the creation and management of strategic, sustainable business advantages and customer solutions.

Your career skills are rounded out with fundamentals such as project management, principles of marketing, design thinking and process innovation, retail management, ethics and corporate social responsibility as well as the fundamentals of visual arts and art history.

Marine Studies
Are you interested in pursuing studies about social, political, and cultural issues? Do you want to explore the relationships between humans and the environment while learning about the coasts and ocean?

The College of Liberal Art's Marine Studies Degree will focus on the social, political, and cultural issues of coasts and oceans in the context of a meaningful understanding of marine natural science. Students will receive a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science.

As an agribusiness professional, you will spend your days solving pressing problems at the intersection of business, agriculture and natural resources. Whether by ensuring fair wages for cocoa farmers or finding a creative way to address food insecurity in your community, your career will be a rewarding one.

Digital Communication Arts
The Digital Communication Arts degree focuses on the storytelling capacity of media and prepares students to be successful navigators of ever-changing technology. Students in this major will learn alternative writing approaches, nonlinear storytelling, multiple formats, and how mediated storytelling affects the story itself. They investigate how our culture will change as people shift from multiple streams of communication to information flow on a single device, and how the structures of traditional media will adapt. Courses focus on several dimensions of media adoption and adaptation including access and inclusivity, personalization and privacy, science and business. New media requires continuous research and development. Practitioners will need to be prepared to be life-long learners.

How do the actions of our past affect the current world? Students immerse themselves in a robust program to better understand contemporary global issues by searching for patterns and relationships from our history. In addition, students will gain well-rounded intellectual development and essential career skills in critical thinking, writing, argumentation and documentation.

The BS degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology provides a degree path centered on the molecular basis of living systems with training in molecular genetics, biochemistry, and cell biology, as well as in rapidly developing areas such as bioinformatics. Completion of an option is required to earn a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Majors must select an option either in Advanced Molecular Biology, Computational Molecular Biology, or Pre-medicine. The first two options are designed for students interested in careers in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries or graduate work in the molecular life sciences, with the second especially well-suited for students interested in computational aspects of molecular biology. The third option is ideal for students interested in careers in medicine and related health professions.

Botany
Students majoring in Botany study the fundamental biology of plants and fungi from molecular and cellular to the global ecosystem level. The curriculum includes core classes in plant structure, systematics, ecology, and physiology, along with courses in biochemistry, cell biology, and genetics. Students also learn how to apply their knowledge to current issues and problems of in food production, conservation, and healthy ecosystems.

BioResource Research (BRR) is an interdisciplinary biosciences major centered around student research. Students take biosciences core courses, complete an option (bioscience/agriculture/natural resource specialization) and do a research project of their choice with a faculty mentor.
