American Studies
What does it mean to be American? And where does American-ness stem from? Who qualifies as “We, the People,” and does it matter? What is the American Dream? Who might it leave out? Why?

American studies students confront these complex questions, exploring the enduring political ideologies, moments of cultural awakening and diverse perspectives that make America what it is. It’s all up to interpretation and that’s the fun of it!

As an expert in American identity, you will spend your days examining the interplay of disciplines such as history, literature, political science and sociology, adding your insights to the work of scholars past. What amazing places it will take you is anyone’s guess.

Public Health
We offer the most comprehensive range of accredited public health graduate degree program in Oregon and are gaining momentum and enthusiasm as the state’s first accredited college of public health. Our interdisciplinary approach, research centers and focus on both rural and urban health will enrich your educational experience and set you apart in this evolving profession.

Our public health program is built on the foundation of environmental health sciences, biostatistics, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, and health management and policy. Our curricula incorporate an ecological approach to disease prevention and health promotion, including cultural, social, environmental, behavioral and economic factors that impact population health.

We offer an array of concentrations representing the varied disciplines of public health practice. Through our academic programs and diverse range of research endeavors, you will gain the theoretical foundations, applied research techniques and professional skills to function effectively in reducing risks, promoting health and preventing premature disease and disability in human populations.

The BS degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics provides a degree path centered on the chemistry and physics of life processes with training that integrates the principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, biochemistry, genetics, and computer science.  Biochemists explore the chemical structure of living matter and the chemical reactions occurring in living cells. Biophysicists use the methods of physical science to study the structure and functions of macromolecules and solve problems at the intersection of biological and physical sciences.

Religious Studies
Religious Studies at OSU is an inter-disciplinary field that combines history, philosophy, anthropology, ethics, textual analysis, art, literature and film to examine the ways that humans have described and acted in response to that which they have called divine, both in civilizations long past and among peoples and nations around the world in the present moment. A major in Religious Studies will expose you to some of the most profound and beautiful creations of the human imagination, give you expertise in critical reasoning and close engagement with texts and ideas, give you skills to navigate the cultural complexity of our diverse society, and prepare you to be a participatory citizen of our interconnected global environment.

German continues to be one of the leading languages of science, arts, philosophy and history. German is spoken by more than 200 million speakers worldwide, half of which speak it as their first language. After English, German is the second most used language on the internet. It is the official language of six European countries: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Belgium. In addition, a bachelor's degree in German is a great stepping stone to graduate or law school.

The Wildlife Science graduate degree offered by the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences provides students with the opportunity to study with faculty that have diverse taxonomic and disciplinary expertise including but not limited to the ecology and conservation of birds, mammals (including marine mammals) and amphibians, behavioral ecology, landscape ecology, population ecology, endangered species, conservation psychology, habitat restoration, conservation biology, and conservation genetics.

The Master of Accountancy is a one-year master’s program for students with an undergraduate degree in accounting. It allows accounting students to receive an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree during their five years of university study required to become a CPA.

As an integrated program, the MAC is designed to allow students the opportunity to plan early enough in their accounting education program to enable them to receive both an undergraduate degree and a graduate degree. The MAC is also designed to accommodate postbaccalaureate students wishing to prepare for accounting careers.

Liberal Studies
The Liberal Studies (LS) program's mission is to facilitate the development and implementation of an interdisciplinary, thematically-based learning program selected by the student. Liberal Studies themes are as varied as your imagination. Some themes, such as "Cultural Studies through Literature" draw on two or three liberal arts disciplines to provide students with a broad-based understanding of how people interact and maintain cultural structures and social institutions. Other themes, such as "event coordination" prepare students for a particular type of work in specific industries. Whether you are looking to broaden your theoretical understanding, to gain career-related skills, or both, narrowing down your focus is the first place to start.

Students in the merchandising management program prepare for positions in management, merchandising, inventory control, sales promotion, public relations and human resources. This field offers a wide variety of career opportunities with retailers, manufacturers, marketing research firms and product information services. In a global, diverse, fast-paced and competitive environment, merchandisers are involved in market analysis, product planning, sourcing, procurement, pricing, distribution and visual presentation of apparel and textile products.
