Food Science and Technology
Food Science and Technology concerns the chemistry and engineering necessary to deliver safe, appealing and convenient food products from the farm gate to the food marketer. The academic program integrates principles and concepts in the physical, biological and engineering sciences, and applies them to the scientific and technological aspects of food processing. The role of the food scientist is to successfully integrate these disciplines to assure an abundant, high quality and nutritious food supply.

Business Administration
The business administration degree provides students with a broad overview of business; basic skills in accounting and quantitative methods; an understanding of the legal and social environment of business; a background in management and organizational behavior, marketing, finance, and operations management; an understanding of the entrepreneurial process; and the opportunity to integrate course work and further develop decision-making skills through the analysis of business cases.

Radiation health physicists ensure beneficial uses radiation, protecting workers and the public from potential hazards associated with exposure. Oregon State's radiation health physics program traces its roots back to the 1960s and today produces the most graduates of any program in the nation. The undergraduate or bachelor's program is broken into two sections: pre-engineering (two years) and pro-engineering (two years).

Chemical Engineering
Chemical engineering is the study and modeling of systems where heat and fluid flow are coupled with chemical reactions. Examples of systems are the human body, ground water, the atmosphere, the ocean, and chemical reactors. Natural systems are measured and modeled in order to understand present and future behavior. Man-made systems are specifically designed to convert raw materials into more useful products.

Making useful products requires using mathematics and science to plan, develop, design, operate, and improve processes. Some processes are micro-scale, as in computer chip manufacturing, and some are large-scale, as in petroleum refining. Typical products from these processes include computer chips, solar cells, batteries, pharmaceuticals, plastics, synthetic fibers, composite materials, pulp and paper, and consumer products ranging from detergents to cosmetics. Chemical engineers find employment in large high-tech companies, environmental consulting firms, large commodity companies and small software companies. Employment prospects for graduates in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest are strong.

The arts, media and technology degree prepares you for a career as a creative professional. The program's multidisciplinary curriculum integrates critical, theoretical and historical knowledge of the arts and media with the technical skills required for a career in the visual arts and design fields.

Biological Data SciencesA degree in BDS provides a wealth of career and graduate school opportunities. Advances, such as next generation sequencing, drones, satellite imagery, and crowd sourcing, have transformed the life sciences by enabling data collection to occur at speeds and scales previously unimaginable. This paradigm shift in how researchers answer biological questions has resulted in an ever-increasing need for scientists with appropriate expertise in both biological and quantitative thinking.

Biology
The Biology Major delivers interdisciplinary training relevant to a wide variety of life sciences careers. Students can choose to specialize in one of eight transcript-visible options or select from a wealth of coursework to meet specific interests. Biology is a common home for pre-veterinary medicine, as well as pre-medicine and other health professions

Social Science
Students can pursue a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree in social science with an option in community development and leadership. You will investigate the social and cultural dynamics in our communities, explore how these dynamics impact the development of sustainable communities, and examine how effective community leadership impacts positive social change. You will gain fundamental skills in communication, political science, anthropology, environmental science and where these fields intersect with the arts and sciences. Areas of investigation include wellness, place, dwelling, food and community, migration and sense of place, sustainable communication, and community dialogue and public environments. One of the most distinctive features of this program is that most programs of its kind are graduate certificate programs; this is an undergraduate degree program.

The Mechanical Engineering (ME) profession is dedicated to applying principles of physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics in the analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical components, devices, and systems.  Oregon State's graduate program in ME is designed to educate leaders who will develop and improve systems for transforming energy, health, materials, and information to meet the needs of society.
