The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University provides a comprehensive, state-of-the-art education that prepares our students to be successful in engineering practice, advanced studies and research.

The computer science master's program provides advanced instruction beyond the undergraduate degree. It prepares students for careers in which a higher level of experience is required. The Ph.D. program prepares students for work in government or industry research laboratories or industry research laboratories or for careers at universities.

Upon successful completion of International Year One and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next term of undergraduate study at Oregon State University. This transition from an INTO OSU program to a university program is called progression.

Political Science

The OSU political science program investigates the stories behind the news headlines and teaches you skills to make up your own mind about the politics of laws that affect everyday issues. You will learn to think critically, write clearly and speak persuasively on diverse issues such as: assisted suicide, international terrorism, campaign finance, government involvement in health care and censorship.

Food Science and Technology
Food Science and Technology concerns the chemistry and engineering necessary to deliver safe, appealing and convenient food products from the farm gate to the food marketer. The academic program integrates principles and concepts in the physical, biological and engineering sciences, and applies them to the scientific and technological aspects of food processing. The role of the food scientist is to successfully integrate these disciplines to assure an abundant, high quality and nutritious food supply.

Geography is the study of Earth's environments, landscapes, peoples, and places. It includes natural science (physical geography), social science (human geography), and geospatial science (GIScience). Geographers collect, analyze, and display spatial information, and apply the concepts and theory of geography to explore social and environmental questions.

The undergraduate Earth Sciences degree has three distinct options that build on an integrated curriculum core which includes courses in Earth, ocean, atmospheric sciences, and field skills.

• Geology - the physical Earth: its history, interior structure, and processes that shape its surface
• Ocean Science - the physical, chemical, and biological workings of the ocean
• Climate Science - the climate system and its interrelationships with society

The graduate program in Biological & Ecological Engineering deals with diverse issues in the design and analysis of a wide range of biological and hydrologic systems. Focus areas are in bioprocessing, biosystems analysis and water resource engineering/watershed analysis.

Research topics in Biological and Ecological engineering encompass biofuels production, metabolic engineering, microbial fuel cells, biohydrogen production, agrivoltaics, waste and waste water treatment, modeling and control of biological systems, biofuel systems analysis using techno-economic models and life cycle assessment.

An INTO OSU Graduate Pathway program in Civil Engineering will prepare you to enter your next term of a master’s degree program at Oregon State University. Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your next term of graduate study at Oregon State University. This transition from an INTO OSU program to a university degree program is called progression.

Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil and Construction Engineering offers three graduate degree programs, Master of Engineering (MEng), Master of Science in Civil Engineering (M.S.), and  Doctorate in Civil Engineering (Ph.D.). Students can focus their work in different areas of civil engineering and make use of specialized facilities to complete their work.

Our goal is to help stimulate intellectual and aesthetic inquiry, develop our students' creative and technical skills, and graduate engaged, culturally aware citizens. Students here have the opportunity to choose from several options: painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography and art history.

Crop Science and Soil Science
Want to get your hands dirty while making a difference? Our students work on solving the most complex agricultural and natural resource problems faced in Oregon, our nation and across the globe. Students who want to make a measurable difference in our communities are perfect candidates for a degree in either crop science or soil science. Graduates of our program, in demand across the United States, typically have several job offers by the time that they graduate.

Our construction engineering management (CEM) undergraduate program prepares students with the tools they need to become construction engineers and managers in all areas of the construction industry. The program emphasizes practical applications as well as basic principles. Students are given many hands-on experiences in the laboratory and are involved in numerous field trips to supplement classroom activities. CEM graduates find employment in all phases of construction: commercial and industrial building, heavy/highway, structures, utilities, and civil projects. They are employed by general constructors, subcontractors, suppliers, developers, homebuilders, consultants, and governmental agencies. They work as project engineers, project managers, field and office engineers, estimators, as well as in other positions.
