The goal of the finance program at OSU is to prepare students for careers in institutional finance, which includes careers in banking, brokerage, insurance and other fields. Within the lending area, finance majors can specialize in installment credit lending to consumers of durable goods, mortgage lending to home builders and buyers, or commercial lending to help finance the growth of businesses. Men and women entering the securities industry find careers as stock and bond brokers, security analysts or portfolio managers. Individuals choosing the area of insurance typically enter company operations through either claims or underwriting positions.

The School of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering offers Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering.

Students can choose from among the following areas of concentration: Biochemical Reactors; Biotechnology; Electrochemical Deposition; Environmentally Benign Manufacturing; Fluidization Engineering; Materials Synthesis and Processing; Micro Energy and Chemical Systems; Polymer Rheology and Processing; Process Control/Optimization; Thin Film Processing; and Waste Minimization and Sustainable Processing. All programs are tailored to individual student needs and professional goals. A diversity of faculty interests, broadened and reinforced by cooperation between CBEE and other engineering departments and research centers on campus, makes tailored individual programs possible. The department originates and encourages programs ranging from those that are classically chemical engineering to those that are distinctly interdisciplinary.

Learn to empower individuals, families and communities to survive and thrive. Explore how individuals develop and become resilient over time — particularly within the contexts of family, school, work and society. Consider how difficult environments, such as living in poverty, can make lives and relationships more challenging. Few careers offer as many opportunities to directly and profoundly impact lives. With an HDFS degree, you’ll be ready for rewarding professional work or graduate study in fields such as education, HDFS, social work or public administration.

Ecological Engineering
The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Ecological Engineering degree program offered through the Colleges of Agricultural Science and Engineering is a new degree program that is the first of its kind nationally at the undergraduate level. Ecological Engineering is the design of sustainable systems consistent with ecological principles that integrate human activities into the natural environment to the benefit of both. This approach emphasizes diversity, resilience and adaptation to maintain sustainability. Ecological Engineering deals with both fundamental processes and engineering applications on scales that range from microscopic to watersheds and beyond.

History
How do the actions of our past affect the current world? Students immerse themselves in a robust program to better understand contemporary global issues by searching for patterns and relationships from our history. In addition, students will gain well-rounded intellectual development and essential career skills in critical thinking, writing, argumentation and documentation.

Bioresource Research
BioResource Research (BRR) is an interdisciplinary biosciences major centered around student research. Students take biosciences core courses, complete an option (bioscience/agriculture/natural resource specialization) and do a research project of their choice with a faculty mentor.

Biology
The Biology Major delivers interdisciplinary training relevant to a wide variety of life sciences careers. Students can choose to specialize in one of eight transcript-visible options or select from a wealth of coursework to meet specific interests. Biology is a common home for pre-veterinary medicine, as well as pre-medicine and other health professions

Chemistry
An undergraduate degree in Chemistry opens a gateway to many professions or further studies in graduate school or professional schools, like medical school.  A Chemistry degree provides a solid foundation for many professions including teaching, forensics, biotechnology, medicine, materials science and nanotechnology, chemical processing, electronics, agricultural and food science, oceanography, and environmental science.  At OSU, we provide a very flexible curriculum that can be tuned to your interests.  Check out the options we have for you!

Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics offers graduate programs leading to the M.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics with research emphasis possible in a variety of areas within pure and applied mathematics and in mathematics education. There are active faculty research groups in algebra and number theory, analysis, applied mathematics, geometry and topology, mathematical biology, mathematics education, numerical analysis, and probability.

The Mathematics department also participates in an interdisciplinary program in ecosystem informatics. There are also possibilities in actuarial science.

The mathematics department currently has about 65 graduate students. About 55 of our graduate students hold Graduate Teaching Assistantships or Fellowships, and some hold Graduate Research Assistantships. The department awards 15 to 18 new graduate assistantship appointments annually. The 2017-18 nine-month assistantship stipend for an entering graduate student is $16,891, and the stipends for advanced students are higher. The assistantship appointment also gives complete tuition remission, some fee reimbursement, and covers 85% of the student health insurance premium.

Our public health program is built on the foundation of environmental health sciences, biostatistics, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, and health management and policy. Our curricula incorporate an ecological approach to disease prevention and health promotion, including cultural, social, environmental, behavioral and economic factors that impact population health.

We offer an array of concentrations representing the varied disciplines of public health practice. Through our academic programs and diverse range of research endeavors, you will gain the theoretical foundations, applied research techniques and professional skills to function effectively in reducing risks, promoting health and preventing premature disease and disability in human populations.
