Suffolk University's program is tailored to your goals. You'll start by taking two foundation courses that focus on effective speaking, concise writing, and critical thinking and then courses in writing, online journalism, and media law. Next, you’ll gain specific knowledge and hands-on experience in journalism.

Concentration in Print/web
If you choose the print/web journalism concentration, you’ll gain universal skills that can be applied in print and online, including reporting, feature writing, criticism, and copy editing. Our students regularly intern at The Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Boston Magazine, and Metro newspapers, among other print outlets, as well as for a wide variety of online news and sports publications.

Media and film are constantly evolving. You'll need to adapt if you want to create content in these industries. Suffolk's media and film major encourages critical thinking and internships, so you'll graduate ready to work in the field or take your studies to the next level in grad school.

Media and film are dynamic concepts that are constantly evolving; therefore, students need to prepare themselves to be adaptable creators in the industries. To that end, the major guides students through considerations of both practical and critical nature to ensure that students learn how the two areas exist with mutual benefit to one another. Upon graduation, students are prepared for both practical work in the industry and graduate studies in film or media theory or a specialized production area.

Internships are highly encouraged, and students regularly intern at production and post-production houses in the city and Boston metro area, as well as TV stations, such as PBS. Many also intern on movie sets, as Hollywood productions regularly shoot in the city.

Suffolk University's biology major is especially collaborative and career-focused. Many of your classes will have fewer than 20 students, and you'll benefit from your professors' individual attention, thanks to our low faculty-to-student ratio.

At Suffolk, you can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Biology, depending on your area of focus. The Master of Science in Medical Dosimetry (MSMD) at Suffolk University combines coursework and hands-on clinical training that will prepare you for an entry level dosimetry position.

Medical dosimetrists are integral members of the radiation oncology team who create computerized treatment plans and perform dose calculations for patients undergoing radiation therapy. As “architects” of radiation therapy, they design plans to deliver a curative dose to tumors while limiting exposure to nearby healthy organs.

At Suffolk, you will learn from expert board-certified dosimetrists and physicists at top Boston hospitals who provide didactic and clinical instruction. Our competency-based clinical curriculum incorporates the latest planning techniques including 3D, IMRT, VMAT, brachytherapy, stereotactic, and proton therapy. You will be prepared to be a clinically competent professional who can communicate effectively, think critically, and engage in evidence-based practice.

Supervised clinical rotations are completed at our affiliates including Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), MGH Newton Wellesley, Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center at Milford Regional Medical Center, MGH North Shore Cancer Center, Beth Israel-Lahey Health, and Rhode Island Hospital. The variety of clinical sites ensures exposure to working in a major academic center as well as a smaller community setting.

The Finance major focuses on the evolving demands of the global financial environment. You'll be introduced to the latest educational technology, including Compustat, CRSP, StockTrak, Bloomberg, and Morningstar. Law
Our undergraduate law programs are intended as legal employment credentials. They'll prepare you to work as a paralegal in a law office, corporate office, government agency, or other offices working with the law.

The Bachelor of Art in Studio Art is specifically designed to help you prepare for a creative career in the visual arts. This major offers an immersive studio experience integrated with academic programming that focuses on arts-related career pathways.

Today’s artists utilize cross-disciplinary skills in order to develop successful careers. In the studio art major, you will engage in a comprehensive studio experience in the center of Boston, while you pursue career opportunities in related fields. Economics
As an economics major at Suffolk University, you’ll be part of a vibrant community of students, scholars, and professors who synthesize data to solve social issues and substantiate policy decisions. Our program provides a broad study of economics, from micro-and macroeconomics to statistics. With these skills, you can embark on a career in international relations, finance, government, or public policy.

As an economics major, you’ll learn to think logically to solve problems. You’ll also use observations and datasets to make important inferences. You’ll learn to state your ideas clearly and concisely in written assignments and oral presentations.
