You’ll begin by learning the foundations of public relations, including its history, theory, trends, and practices. You’ll take courses in professional writing, digital and social media, web design, and event planning and promotion. All of this leads to advanced courses in planning public relations campaigns for corporate or nonprofit class clients.

Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy offers a variety of courses in which you'll study the principles of critical thinking and argumentation that help us address these questions. Here you can take classes on topics from logic to the philosophy of art, from existentialism to environmental ethics, from feminism to the philosophy of race and gender. We also feature courses outside the western tradition, including Chinese philosophy, Buddhism, African philosophy, and Native American religion. In advanced seminars, you'll delve into the works of the great philosophers—Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Heidegger, Wittgenstein, and others.

History
To be a history major, you need to be curious. You’ll become an investigator into the minds, motivations, and movements that shaped our world, all while studying in one of the most historic cities on earth. Psychology
Psychology is essentially the study of what makes us tick—the examination of mental processes and human behavior across the lifespan and across cultures. Suffolk’s approach to psychology is holistic: You’ll examine the neurological components of the brain and also study the way societies and circumstances cause different behaviors. Many majors go on to work as therapists and psychiatrists, but nearly every career requires psychological insight.

Suffolk University's biology major is especially collaborative and career-focused. Many of your classes will have fewer than 20 students, and you'll benefit from your professors' individual attention, thanks to our low faculty-to-student ratio.

Your experiences in our classrooms and labs will teach you scientific research methods and reporting; your experiences interning at Boston's premier hospitals and research facilities will deepen your knowledge and broaden your network.

At Suffolk, you can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in Biology, depending on your area of focus. You’ll begin with a well-rounded assortment of courses in both the lab and classroom focusing on evolution, genetics, ecology, bioethics, and physiology. If you have a specific professional interest, you might choose one of our three concentration options.

Concentration in Marine Science
This concentration prepares you for a career as a marine biologist, conservationist, zoologist, and other fields related to ecology. It is immersive and features courses taught through the Marine Studies Consortium (MSC), a collaborative organization of 16 local institutions. Locations include the New England Aquarium and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

The Suffolk MSBA program gives you insight into how data preparation is vital to implementing business analytics—the foundation for making analytics-driven decisions to solve business problems and create opportunities for a wide range of industries. Our curriculum is industry-designed, as we’ve done the research to ensure our courses are ahead of the curve.

Statistical Analytical Software (SAS), Excel, and Systems Applications Products (SAP) coursework helps prepare you for additional professional certifications. And the Suffolk MSBA program is STEM-designated, qualifying international students for an additional two years of OPT work in the United States.

Learn to build statistical and optimization models that distill essential insights from raw data sets, master the fundamentals of machine learning using Python, and harness the power of data to project forecasts as well as drive data-backed business decisions.

Finance
Develop an understanding of topics such as financial analysis, forecasting, and capital budgeting, and how to apply these trends to analysis of data in finance.

FinTech
Examine how machine learning applies to the financial industry and how emerging technology is disrupting the financial landscape.

Healthcare Management
Learn to analyze and interpret data in the healthcare field, and discuss how decisions about healthcare have global impacts.

Marketing
Gain an understanding of the social science research process with a focus on survey methods in marketing research and how data can influence marketing strategies.

Radiation Science
The radiation science major emphasizes laboratory and research training rather than clinical training, making it ideal preparation for medical research careers and graduate study. By integrating the study of biology, radiation, physics, chemistry, and mathematics, our well-rounded program prepares you for a career in healthcare or any of the sciences. Majors in the program have the opportunity to complete an internship at a regional healthcare facility, including the possibility of interning at a top medical center, even though clinical training isn't a requirement of this program.
